Hello,
I can't delete obsolete entries from my registry (the message I receive is: "deletion impossible: error while deleting the key".(HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee).
I had a trial version of this antivirus pre-installed on my machine (I removed it using an uninstaller found on McAfee's website - I now have Nod32-). I tried using a cleaner (Regseecker) which locates it correctly, offers to delete it (green entry): but it keeps coming back.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.12

the easiest thing is to delete the key yourself with regedit.

if that's impossible, add a permission to the key.

otherwise, having one key more or less in the registry isn't the end of the world =)

Hello,

Have you tried using CCleaner?

I tried to delete the key myself using regedit, but it doesn't work. Can you tell me more about adding permissions to a key? You're right, the big bug, a key isn't the end of the world (even if McAfee has sprinkled a few more...).
.(I tried CCleaner): no success.

Finally, thank you both for your promptness.

to give yourself permission (to yourself ^^) to delete the key, right-click on the key and choose "permissions..."

if you are not in the list, add yourself and grant yourself full control.

See you!

I have total control (well, sort of) and unfortunately, it's not enough. While exploring a bit more, I noticed the presence of special permissions (I will dig a little deeper).
