Sound issue with CARAV FM transmitter

Hello,
I recently bought an FM transmitter for the car to use with my eSansa 4GB. This transmitter works on two frequencies, either 88.7 or 106.4, and plugs into the headphone jack of the MP3 player and the car's cigarette lighter. The problem is that the sound is really not loud enough. With the car volume at maximum and the MP3 player's volume at three-quarters, the sound is average and experiences a significant loss of bass. When I turn the volume of the eSansa to maximum, there are "interferences" (I couldn't describe the phenomenon differently; the sound cuts out about twenty times a minute for half a second).
I thought of getting a small "pocket" amplifier as a solution, but I don't think that would solve the problem: if I send an amplified signal, it might create the "interferences" mentioned above.
Anyway, I would like to have your opinion or suggestions for solutions. Thank you!

Hi, these little devices are very temperamental, they're really not very reliable. I bought one for 30 euros that worked really poorly, then I got another one on eBay for 1.50 from China and it works quite well. Sure, it doesn't have the quality of a CD, but it's okay. All this to say that it's very random; you might have ended up with bad equipment. One piece of advice: don't turn up the MP3 volume all the way because amplifying the sound too much is very bad and it crackles.
Keep your MP3 away from the transmitter because I think it can cause interference.
