Blank pages - Word mail merge

Solved

Hello,

I've encountered the same problem multiple times, whether it's with Excel or Access data.

I'm creating my little mail merge letter, everything is going fine. But when I want to print or merge them for editing, Word adds a blank page between each written page. This blank page doesn't show in the preview, but it definitely appears in the printout. I've worked around it by printing only the odd pages, but I can't find the source of the problem.

Windows XP
Word 2003
Access and Excel 2003

I really need a solution, I'm currently setting up an application for another user who won't want to keep checking "print odd pages only" every time...

Thank you for your help!
Zia

Hello,

I too just struggled with a document that had already been created by someone else. I believe I've found

file
page layout
layout
and uncheck different odd and even pages.

This page does not appear in the preview but does indeed show up in the printout
so it is indeed a printing issue.
The same is true with OpenOffice, and the problem is solved by: Tools/Options/OOo Writer/Print: disable Print automatic blank pages inserted

Which does not answer your question, why this page insertion, we agree.

Thank you for your response! That works great, but how can I stop these blank pages from interspersing?

Time passes and problems are sometimes still there. I had the same issue and after searching for several hours, I finally found the solution. To remove the blank pages that appear when printing merged documents in Word (but not in the preview), you need to go to format/document and uncheck the box "side-by-side page".

Thank you, but that doesn't answer my question at all.

I do NOT want to configure the printing, I would like to know what happens BEFORE to avoid these blank pages from being automatically interspersed....
