PS3 hard drive issue Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

I got a 40 GB PS3 for Christmas but this afternoon when I turned it on, the console made strange noises and the following message appeared on the screen:
"Startup failed
The appropriate hard drive could not be detected."
Has anyone had the same problem?
What should I do?
Please help me!

Hello everyone, I have the solution to your problem, it worked for me.

When it asks to restore, at that moment unplug the hard drive, then click OK. Wait a few seconds and it will tell you to format. Then plug the hard drive back in, wait a few seconds, and start the formatting. After that, it will format and there you go, the job is done. No more data, but it will work again.

Me, same problem message: impossible to start. The appropriate hard drive could not be detected: finally, my PS3 is a 40 GB and it's not even 2 months old, I find that really annoying. So after trying the manipulation of removing and re-adding the disk, of course without results, here I am heading to Virgin for good customer service and there they tell me "very well, 2 months wait" and boom in the face, and it's normal they send them all back.............. Really very disappointed and given the resources of the company, I really expected something different..... I feel like I've been had without joking, 2 months I've never seen that, especially since I really have a basic use of the console. I was also told about a lens problem, which is normal anyway at 400 bucks, no problem. Otherwise, it is true that for the HDMI connection with my Samsung 40F86 BDX screen, it was pure joy compared to the 360. All that's left for me is to try to squeeze a commercial gesture out of Sony, one can always dream.

Salut, je suis désolé d'apprendre cela. Voici comment formater le disque dur de ta PS3 via un PC :

1. Connecte le disque dur de ta PS3 à ton PC à l'aide d'un adaptateur USB, si nécessaire.
2. Ouvre "Gestion des disques" sur ton PC (clic droit sur "Ce PC" > "Gérer" > "Gestion des disques").
3. Trouve le disque dur de la PS3 dans la liste.
4. Fais un clic droit sur le disque et choisis "Formater".
5. Choisis le système de fichiers FAT32, car c’est le format requis par la PS3.
6. Suis les instructions pour terminer le formatage.

Attention : cela supprimera toutes tes données. Une fois formaté, tu devras réinstaller les données système sur ta PS3.

The problem is simple but risky to do yourself because you might damage your PS3. I have a cousin who had this problem, and I fixed it for him. First, you need to remove your hard drive, then put a game in the PS3 and turn it on. That's when you'll need to open a small cover that allows access to the hard drive's power supply. Doing this while the PS3 is on is very risky. There are three wires and a card. Unplug the red wire, then the card. Then put your hard drive back in, reinsert your card, and plug your wire back in. When I exchanged the hard drive, the guy at the store gave me a new one that he formatted on a computer! I understood that you needed a special cable to connect the hard drive to the PC! Hi everyone

For me, the problem is with formatting the HDD!

The formatting always gets stuck between 77% and 85%, even leaving it overnight, the PS3 is frozen, I have to turn it off using the switch.

I've tried different methods: unpartitioned HDD, partitioned, formatting FAT32, NTFS, nothing works. But the hard drive is functioning, I've tested it on the PC
So if anyone has had this problem, let me know, the solution would be welcome.

I seriously think your hard drive is messed up, but you can buy another one with whatever capacity you want; they're SATA drives, so you can find them pretty much everywhere.
