Hello,
after extensive research and multiple attempts, I haven't found a way to repair a VOB file burned on the hard drive... The video starts normally, but at some point, playback stops... It's also impossible to copy and paste this file (cyclic redundancy check)
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thank you

The suggestions I'm giving you don't involve repairing the VOB file. We're going about it differently to open the DVD.
So you're going to try to open your Video DVD with this software DVDFab Decrypter: http://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/telecharger 34055355 dvdfab hd decrypter. It's somewhat similar to DVD Shrink in terms of ripping or opening files.
If it works, once you've copied the Video DVD with this software (you can choose between the entire DVD or just the main Movie) to your hard drive, I think DVD Shrink should accept it. Additionally, you'll need free space on your computer. But it's not guaranteed that it will succeed. You have to try to see.
If I understood you correctly, you want to compress this movie so that you can burn it onto a 4.7 GB DVD.
See you later

Check the box "problem solved" if that is the case. -
Anyone?
Is there any missing information? Please feel free to let me know, thank you. -
Hello
You could try converting it to mpeg with Media Encoder using the following settings:
Audio TAB:
MPlayer <<<<<<<<<<------------or "default" if there are encoding issues
FFMPEG Audio Codecs (also try Lame MP3)
44100Hz (do not use 'As Source' unless same format IN and OUT)
All else not set, unless required
Video TAB:
Bitrate slider(or type) 1152Kbps
Select 'Fixed Bitrate'
Format: MPG-1 or MPG-2 (MPG-1 for VCD etc)
Bitrate Control: Default
Container: MPEG with OPTION: MPG-1 or MPG-2 (MPG-1 for VCD etc)
Picture TAB:
Resize Video: 352x288 (MPG-1 standard or set as needed)
Crop Video: Select if required.
Rotation: Select if Required.
Frame Rate: 25.00 (MPG1 standard) see below:
Everything else must be empty (not selected).
Time TAB: Select as required for Film Length wanted etc.
Texts TAB: All unselected (empty not checked).
Audio Output Container: (Right side TABS)
Select FFMPEG:
Set Audio Format to: MPEG Layer 2
Bitrate Slider (or Type) 224 (can use 128)
For Output MPEG:
Screen sizes: 240x192, 320x240, 352x288, 384x288, 480x480, 640x368
640x480, 704x480, 704x576, 720x480, 720x576
Screen Bitrates: (Default 1152 MPG-1) or +/- in 48's eg; 1152, 1104
Frames Per Sec: 23.98, 25.00, 29.97, 30
Audio 44100, 22050, 24000, 48000
Best regards

Thank you JCS01,
indeed I can do that to repair it more easily if it’s really what you’re suggesting, but then it will need to be converted back to VOB and it seems to me that it’s impossible... Am I wrong? Because in the end I do need a VOB file for my DVD to work... Let me know if I’m mistaken.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, anyway. -
Hello Niko2mars
From what I understand about your problem, you have a DVD-Video on your computer with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories (not important if the latter is missing because it's empty). You want to keep this structure in order to potentially burn it onto a DVD to be able to play it elsewhere, like on a standalone player for example.
Check if you can open your VIDEO_TS directory with the software DVD Shrink by any chance.
Sincerely

Hello ziggurat and thank you
That’s exactly it. I tried to open the directory with DVD Shrink and the analysis stops when the VOB file crashes . . . It does indicate a failure to read this VOB file and "data error (cyclical redundancy check)" -
At what point does DVD Shrink stop?
Do you still have the original DVD?
Are you able to read the other VOB files in the VIDEO_TS directory with a player like VLC for example?
I don't understand why you can't read this VOB file if it's on your hard drive.
And I also don't understand why your usual player is blocking the DVD-Video.
Cheers!

Check the resolved issue box if that's the case. -
And that's precisely where the difficulty of the problem lies! lol
And unfortunately, I no longer have the original DVD... It's a DVD that was copied from the hard drive using DVD Shrink, if I remember correctly.
DVD Shrink freezes during the "analysis" that takes place when I open the folder, at the exact moment of the film (that I preview during the analysis) which corresponds to the file VOB freeze. Yes, the other VOB files play fine when I read them with VLC. It's this one that crashes at some point.
I should clarify that this is not a burning error since I have already watched this film without any issues before...

Thanks anyway for considering my problem!
