Hello,
I received a Sony NWZ-A816 video walkman for Christmas, and so far everything was great, I put music on it without any issues.
But this walkman plays videos, and I wanted to add one or two movies, and that's where the drama starts, my files are rejected! I assume it's a file type problem, my walkman reads mp4 video format "Memory stick" (I quote the manual). I'm using Windows Media Player, but I don’t know what the formats of the movies I have are...
Is there a way to make my movies compatible to put on my (very beautiful) walkman?
Thank you for your help, I’m lost :'(...

Yesssssssssssssssss finallyyyyyyyyyyy it’s done !!!!!
Thanks everyone, it works!!! I was making a silly mistake with the video format, it needs to be 320:240 and I wasn’t using that…
There it is!!! Thank you so much for your help, I’ll be able to start encoding all my videos, thanks to you my walkman will finally give me what I was mainly expecting from it.
Kisses everyone! -
So... I used Super, with a lot of trouble, but I managed to get a result: I retrieved a file that is now called mp4, which looks like something that can be played by my walkman. I copy it to the walkman, and there, horror and drama, it tells me that it cannot be played!
When I try to play it on my computer, it plays with Super. In short, it's a failure. :'( -
Hello
to "put them in the right format"
you first need to know what format they are in... logical!!!
see you

hi
here's a link to download the software SUPER in French
http://www.01net.com/windows/Multimedia/encodeurs_et_decodeurs/fiches/33476.html
with this you should be able to convert
the problem is that I don't know at all
you'll have to learn on your own
or open another discussion on the forum like "help me use SUPER"
see you

...that's nice of you, but I downloaded it yesterday, it's in English, and I don't understand anything :( no, but it's okay, I'll try to manage, thanks!

Hello
A tutorial in French for SUPER in PDF format.
To convert to the MP4 container, you also have MediaCoder. To set it to French, go to Options --> Language of the user interface.
Best regards

For SUPER, I can't help you much, I use MediaCoder.
I did a very quick search, see this discussion https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-3726927-balladeur-mp3-sony-nwz-a816?entiere#9 especially what Frank said.
He recommends using the software "winavimp4converter," which I'm not familiar with. But what I mostly noted is that the format you need to convert to is the same as for the iPod.
With MediaCoder, it's very simple.
You open the software, add your video file with "Add" --> Extensions --> Audio/Video players --> Choose Apple iPod (a window opens, click on Yes) --> A new window opens with iPod Extension. You start the conversion by clicking on Start.
The settings are: video codec = MPEG-4 Visual and audio codec = MPEG-4 AAC LC

Check the box "problem solved" if that is the case. -
Try to redo the conversion, you might have missed something.
I wish you all the best and good luck.
See you later

Hello,
I came across this post as I have the same issue, and thanks to the MediaConverter site https://www.unibet.dk/betting/sponsors?mktid=1:1419722:8389-22999, I was able to convert my videos to the iPod format, and magic, it works :D

That's nice... but how does it work? Is it free? You would have to explain it to me... (I hope I'm not taking up too much of your time, it's really kind of you to care about my issue)

Read pages 8 and 9 of the tutorial to find out the location of the default output folder. I think it should be on drive C.
By default, these files are placed in the 'Output' subdirectory of the software. page 9.
You can also use the "Search" function of Windows to find your file, specifying the name of the video for example.

Check the "problem solved" box if that's the case. -
What codecs did you use for the conversion with SUPER?
It may be a question of resolution that needs to be changed.

Check the resolved issue box if that's the case. -
Well, I did take the "codecs" written in the little book of my walkman, namely video AVC H264 and audio AAC-LC... Correction, my new mp4 file is being read by Quicktime player on my computer, so apparently it's good :s

re
you didn't check the CD that comes with the walkman
there should normally be a video conversion software on it ....
according to the documentation !!!
talk to you later

If I looked at the CD provided with my music, it's an MP3 converter... it's for music, you know (and it's useless because all my music has been playing just fine until now).

It's not an isolated case. The nwz series a800 only reads video files converted by Media Player 11 from the media manager provided with the Walkman, which, by the way, is impossible to install on many machines. I have tried all the converters, including those that convert to PSP, but nothing works. I'm going to ask for a refund for this excellent product, and if there's a problem, it's UFC Direct. A product like this, put on sale with the expected purchasing flow, shouldn't require so much manipulation.

Well, actually with Super G I managed to put what I wanted as videos on my (magnificent) Walkman, not without difficulty, it's true, but it's worth it, the image quality is excellent and the sound too, it's a success, but it's true that it's a bit of a hassle, you have to be patient!
