USB on PS3 Solved/Closed

Hello,

How can I read the contents (music and images) of a USB stick on a PlayStation 3?
I tried, and the PS3 detects it well but can't play the music or display the images. Is that normal?

Hello

while searching through the various topics available online:

-You need to create, at the root of the USB drive, the folders (all in uppercase) PICTURE, MUSIC, VIDEO, PS3
and in the PS3 folder,
UPDATE (for OFFLINE system updates)
SAVEDATA (where to put the saves)
EXPORT
in the EXPORT folder,
BACKUP (PS3 restore point)
PSV (PS2 saves)

in my way:

-If your drive is recognized, in Video, or Photo etc... you press Triangle on your drive icon, Show All.
You just have to copy the data to your console to enjoy it (finally the saves, the only ones you can't read on the drive)

No, you can't download a game and put it on a USB drive; movies and such work, but games are protected.

Il faut que tu mettes ta clé sur ta PS3, puis que tu ailles par exemple sur "Images", puis "périphériques USB" et là tu fais triangle puis tu cliques sur "afficher tout" et là normalement tout s'affiche.

For my part, I managed to make it detectable
before, it wasn't detected either...

but here's what I understood:
it all depends on how the USB key was formatted.
at first I formatted it on my Mac with the Mac OS extended
then I tried MS-DOS (FAT)
and since that MS-DOS (FAT) formatting, my USB key is detected!

Moreover, I just put the files on the key without creating MUSIC, VIDEO, etc. folders...

I found how to read videos from USB sticks on the PS3. Go to the stick, press triangle, select "display all," and you will see everything appear; then click on the video.
