Hello,
I recently subscribed to ADSL 512k from Télé2 and I have a Speedtouch 330 modem, as I was previously subscribed to AOL (I still am, unfortunately). Unfortunately, it seems incompatible with Télé2, being programmed to work with AOL. However, I’ve heard that it’s possible to use the Speedtouch 330 modem after some unknown manipulations. Could someone be so kind as to provide me with the details? I would greatly appreciate it, as it would save me from having to buy a new ADSL modem!
I am using Windows 98, and many thanks in advance to whoever can help me.

Hello everyone, I have a big problem with the Speedtouch. One morning, I tried to connect and the right LED was blinking repeatedly; the following message appeared in the taskbar: "Network cable unplugged." Then, the mouse keeps turning from green to yellow without stopping. I formatted my hard drive, uninstalled the drivers, updated the drivers, downloaded them, tried a new modem, and swapped my filters. I think I've done everything, but it still doesn't work. Thank you for helping me, I really need it.
Hi,
Are you the owner of the modem? If so, call the hotline and threaten to contact a consumer association if they don’t resolve your issue. The problem with AOL is that they don’t really offer you internet access but access to AOL services; in other words, they can do pretty much anything and everything...
Kalamit,
Talk to my ass, my crankcase is sick. :)

Hi,
I also have the same problem, Tele2 and a SpeedTouch 330 ADSL modem. The installation of the SpeedTouch CD (AOL), as well as some downloaded ST330 installations, only installs the SpeedTouch Diagnostics software, but older ones that don't work with ST330 install both the Diagnostics and the Dial-Up. However, this Dial-Up software is necessary for connecting to the provider (Tele2, for example). So we need to find a version for the ST330 with Dial-Up online, or ask Alcatel/Thomson about the problem.
In any case, if anyone has the solution, or that famous Dial-Up for ST330, please reply quickly!!! ;)

Ok, I found the answer for using the Alcatel SpeedTouch 330 modem from AOL with Tele2! I'm sharing my knowledge:
- Uninstall all Alcatel SpeedTouch drivers and software and disconnect the modem (USB side)
- Launch ST330_03.exe (3,924,751 bytes)
(file downloaded from alcateldsl.com for example)
- Use the phonebook.ini file (see between -----)
(file downloaded from the 9online ADSL website)
- Once the drivers installation is complete, connect the modem
- Creation of the driver list automatically
- Automatic software installation (requests the W98 CD-ROM)
- This installs the Diagnostics software (OK) and Dial-Up (Unusable)
- Go to "Remote Network Access"
- Create a new connection with the SpeedTouch-Line01 device
- Phone number: 8,35,0 (actually these are the VCI and VDI parameters from the phonebook.ini)
- Start the connection, remove the 0 prefix before the "8,35,0"
- Username and password and OK
- If the ADSL connection works, you can access http://193.252.96.3/

small suggestion from someone who doesn't know anything. I'm considering buying a Speedtouch 330 modem. Let me explain, I have two PCs and my parents don’t want any connection between the two PCs. So I want a second ADSL modem. I copied the entire AOL folder onto my PC without installing it normally, and when I connect their modem to mine, it works. So if I buy another 330, it should work, right???

Please help, I have AOL ADSL, the modem has green lights that are fixed
the icon is green but I don’t have ADSL speed and I can’t make calls. Please, can someone help me once and for all because their technicians are useless!!! Thank you in advance to the kind soul who will give me the solution as this has been going on since 03/08. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!!

Before saying that their technicians are useless, have you checked your filters??? Because if you don't know how to make a phone call, it means that the filter is not working properly and is blocking the phone frequency... or that you have one of the rare phones that are not "compatible" with ADSL filters... that's for the "phone doesn't work" part.
For your "no ADSL speed" issue, you need to be clearer. Can you connect and it's slow or can't you connect at all? Is the bitrate not at the right value? Is it at the right value but it's slow? Can you connect but can't surf? ... more details would be helpful! If you explain it like that when calling them, I understand why they can't help you much!
It's always easy to say that the techs are useless, but most customers can't even tell us what version of Windows they have or what brand their modem is... so how do you expect to help someone under these conditions???
Finally... anyway, people are always ungrateful, even though we do our best to help them, we know! :-(

Send me your issue regarding the Alcatel SpeedTouch 330 at the address sylvmarl_AT_hotmail_POINT_com with your personal email and we can discuss it calmly on another antispam address.

Hello,
does anyone know how to get this modem (st330 from AOL) working on Linux?
I'm now with Wanadoo, it works well on XP.

Hello everyone
apparently you have better luck than me, you managed to install this modem. For me, it's a hassle, I can't do it. Well, the modem and the driver are installed, but as soon as the modem is plugged in, then it's a disaster; it doesn't recognize the USB port, the LED is blinking, and in the system panel, it tells me that the device has a problem and that Windows doesn't recognize it. AOL is telling me to reformat the hard drive because there’s a Windows issue. What do you think, should I do it or not? I don't know what to do anymore???? Thanks for replying. Jokes aside, thanks.

Hi sweetheart, I don't know if it will help you but I had the same problem with a printer, Windows didn't recognize it - same message in the system - and after spending a lot of money on hotlines and energy (grrrrr) trying to solve the problem, I reformatted the hard drive and now everything is going great!!!
In the end, it's worth doing it!
Good luck.......

Please, I really need your help.
Tell me where to find the prog st330_03.exe and the file phonebook.ini because I can't find them on the alcateldsl.com and 9online adsl sites.
Thanks in advance.
See you.

Hi again,
I don't give out my full email address because of spam bots. I think it's quite easy to understand sylvmarl at hotmail or at ifrance, right? :)
The phonebook.ini file is entirely in my previous post and between the two dashed lines. You just need to copy-paste the text between the two dashed lines and put it in a file you call phonebook.ini, which will be requested later by the ST330.exe installation program. Send me an email directly to request it in return.
As for the ST330_03.exe file, it probably has a different name on the alcateldsl.com website, but it doesn't matter, it's the most recent installation software for the SpeedTouch 330, and no matter what the installation file is called, you can download it from many sites (just search "download ST330" on Google!).
What else to say ...

Thank you, I followed your advice and it's all good. I started with a complete version of the drivers and then updated with version 3.0 of the Speedtouch drivers.
Don't forget that when using a complete version, you need to modify the phonebook.ini file to change the VCI and VPI values if necessary (for me, it was originally VPI=0 and VCI=38).
So we might be able to use the drivers provided with AOL as long as we make the VPI and VCI modifications.

If someone has a personal page, I would be happy to email them the basic drivers (and modify for Télé2) and the upgrade version 3.0 so they can put them on their site.
Thank you for leaving the email on this site.

Hi everyone, I'm tempted by the Tele2 offer but I already have an ST330 modem, so I'm going to try the tweaks mentioned above. I found the phonebook.ini file at

NOTICE TO THOSE WHO WANT TO SWITCH TO TELE2:
Installing your modem is good, but it's not enough to surf; you also need to choose a "good" provider. Tele2 is cheap, but right now they have quite a few network issues, and depending on the region where you are located, you might regret choosing this provider. So I advise you to take a little tour of the Tele2 (and other) forums at
http://www.grenouille.com
to read some posts to gauge the situation before making your choice. Consider yourself warned!
Good choice, good installation, good surfing,
