Hello,
I've had the NETGEAR CVG834G modem for a few days now, but I don't know how or where to go to configure it.
If someone could help me, that would be really nice.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.9

    Hello everyone

The solution to configure the NETGEAR cvg834g is quite simple

First, using your web browser, connect to http://192.168.0.1/ username "admin" password "password"

You are in the NETGEAR cvg834g dashboard "Gateway Status"

Click on "Port Forwarding" at the bottom left

In the table named "Add Custom Rules"

(you need to create two rules)

1: Emule TCP (name); 20855 (start port); 20855 (end port); TCP (protocol); 192.168.0.10 (your machine's IP)
    Click add

2: Emule UDP (name); 38160 (start port); 38160 (end port); UDP (protocol); 192.168.0.10 (your machine's IP)
    Click add

To find the TCP and UDP ports, go to Emule, preferences, connections

Then restart Emule and voila, the black banner on the mule is gone

    And that's it ;))

If you have any questions, I am available;))

Hello, to switch to a high ID with Numericable, do I just need to follow your procedure? No static address, and if there's no antivirus, no firewall? However, for the TCP and UDP addresses, I changed them and used the common addresses, namely 4662 and 4672; should I keep them? Thank you.

To configure the CVG834G, go to the MANAGEMENT INTERFACE at 192.168.0.1
all requested information can be found on the label stuck under the router.

Thank you Karlito for your solution, it works great.
However, regarding security... I'm not really sure, I don't know much :(

    http://192.168.0.1
    Then admin / password
    Advanced tab
    DMZ host
    Enter your IP address
... and then no more lowId in mumule...

Sorry but for it to really work you need to correct an error that I had but it doesn't happen on all computers I think it's in small 2) as you see I took the liberty to add an S because without the S it won't be added even if you received a confirmation message that the operation has been validated don't forget the S it is very important so important that in the example I put it in UPPERCASE go see and tell me if it works finally for those who would have failed the first time

    See you later everyone

      Hello!

I also have a Netgear CBVG834G router with the same configuration for months, under Xtrem 048a, and since I reinstalled my Windows XP Trust 2.5, I can't connect to the eDonkeyServer No1 ... surprising since eDonkeyServer No2 is on HighID ... In the server log, I have this message that appears; "Warning eDonkeyServer No1 (77.247.178.244:4242) - Your 22280 port is not reachable. Please review your network config.
      LowID -- Trying Again (attempts 1) "

If you have any idea about this, I thank you

PS: it's not very bothersome, I still have a very good upload and download but there are many more files on eDonkeyServer No1 ...

      Thank you.

Hello, thank you for the information regarding the parameters of the Netgear CVG834G, but when I reach the chapter: "adding custom rules", as soon as I type in the window corresponding to eMule TCP and the numbers for (start port) and (end port), my PC "freezes" and I lose internet! So, I have to disconnect the modem and reconnect it to have internet and go to the (network connection window) and click on "repair"!
I have tried several times and the same thing happens! Do you have a solution to my problem? Thank you for responding.

    Yes
under the router, the password and the username are the logs you need to normally access the port and make some adjustments
however, I can't access it with my passwords and I get a blank page (like error 404 unauthorized)
if anyone has any idea on how to proceed
    I am interested
to note that I have already tried different manipulations with uppercase, then without,
    without success
    thank you

Tested but not approved! It caused a violent reboot of my PC!
Fortunately, with a recovery but with a serious error recovery message.
To be tested by a few brave souls to validate or invalidate the info.
For your information, I can still access the router configuration with the usual login/password.

Hello, to simplify your topics, you will go as mentioned to 192.168.0.1
then go all the way down on the left, you will see UPnP enabled, then next to it there is a time set it to 1 and refresh.
It takes barely 5 minutes and there's no need to enter the ports manually.

    Hello everyone :)

So here is my problem, I have a new modem from Numericable, the Netgear CVG834G. So far, everything is fine except that I have a script (TS4) to chat on Voila, and the problem is that my script refuses to display the windows of my rooms where they are set to auto-join. Despite that, I am present in these rooms, but no window opens up. Could you help me? Because if I don't get a response from someone, my computer might go out the window along with the modem ^^ lol. While waiting for a possible response from my future savior, I'm dying in front of my PC ^^.

    Thank you very much!

Oh darn, I have the same problem as you!! I have a CVG834G modem and I'm connected for a while, but I can't access the chat rooms and it disconnects suddenly. I've unlocked the IRC ports and I can access the chat via Java! I'm desperate, I've been trying to connect via IRC for a week...

    Hello to you,

I also had the "Low ID" issue with eMule after installing the CVG834G, and to fix it, I simply went to the router's configuration page, then in the "DMZ Host" section, I changed the IP to match that of my machine, which apparently solved the problem.

However, does anyone know what this setting implies otherwise? Could it pose security issues?

On another note, I wanted to test an online game to see if the router was causing problems (in this case, CS Source) and I was unable to connect to a server... do you think this is also a port forwarding issue?
(I don't know if the problem is specific to Steam or not, and I don't have any other online games to test... except WoW, but I'm not too keen on paying for a month just to see if it works xD)

      Hi,

Does your solution also work for Mac (OS X 10.5) and for LimeWire (not pro…)?

      Thanks for the response…

        Hi

yes, it works for Mac as well because it is defined at the Netgear level, you just need to check in the mule preferences for the ports used

        Same for lim

        bye

C'est encore christ92, j'ai toujours le même problème sur un Netgear CBVG834G pour BitComet. Est-ce que je peux utiliser ta configuration d'eMule pour ouvrir les ports ? Merci, cordialement.

      Hello Warlock57

It's true that it's a simpler solution, but in terms of security, it's not great.

By enabling the "DMZ host" mode, I believe you put your router-modem in simple modem mode, which means your machine is directly on the web.

I hope you have a good firewall and up-to-date antivirus software

Instead, reactivate the router mode by putting the number 0 in the box, then click on apply and then manually configure the ports you need for your applications including Emule

      See you later.

    Hi,

for emule the solution is perfect!! But I have the same problem as Warlock for CSS, I can't connect, and I'm sure it's coming from the modem. If someone can help us, personally I'm not tech-savvy enough to find the solution.

    thanks, see you later!

    Hello everyone!!
So I've just signed up with Numericable, and they gave me the NETGEAR CVG834G modem.
And when I play Halo 3 (Xbox Live), it tells me there's a NAT problem and I can't join others or play with them because every time they start a game, I'm kicked out automatically :/ ..So I wanted to know if anyone knows how to open the ports on this modem.
    Thanks for reading my message.
