DD Multimedia Storex Mpix 357 Solved

Question

Hello,  Due to the numerous issues encountered with the Storex Mpix 357 Multimedia Hard Drive (500Go), and thanks to one of you who pointed me in the right direction (thank you for that), here is a solution that I recommend and have just successfully tested:  I am equipped with Windows XP Pro, a 160 Go hard drive formatted... NTFS.  Solution:   Connect your Storex to the PC via USB  1°: Backup your files on the Storex if necessary 2°: Format the Storex as NTFS 3°: Create 3 folders: Music, Photos, and Video 4°: Check the volume of the Storex (check both options offered): to do this, right-click on the icon of your Storex that Windows has assigned a letter. Then click on Properties, then on Tools, and finally on Check Volume. 5°: Copy your Music, Video, and Photos into the appropriate folders 6°: Defragment the Storex at the end. 7°: Connect to your TV and verify that all your folders are present... and up and running!!!!  NB: In the video section, my Divx6 files are not present in the Video Folder but in File. It doesn’t matter, they are there!!!

Hello, I have a problem with my external hard drive: Storex MPix 356  I have Windows Vista. When I plug in my Storex (via USB cable), it doesn't recognize it, but I have the icon  and when I click on it, it asks me to format it.  The issue is that I have a lot of very important files on it...  How can I recover them?  I tried it on another computer and it's still the same.  I await your response  Thank you in advance.

Hello Riton,   I'm following your advice to format my mpix 357, but I can't see it appearing either in My Computer or in Disk Management. The installation didn't find the necessary files and is incomplete, and on the Storex website, no driver is available since Windows XP is supposed to do everything by itself... Help Thank you Flober

Good evening Flober,  I'm sorry to see that you can't find your Storex in the file explorer. It is certainly a problem with your PC. Have you at least turned on your Storex after plugging it into your PC via USB? Regarding your PC, I recommend checking the volumes of your hard drive. To do this, right-click on your hard drive, then Properties, Tools, and Check volumes. First, check the second option to start the check immediately. Once finished, check the first option and restart your machine. After completing these two operations, replug your Storex and check again in the file explorer for its presence or absence. Thank you very much, I'll try all that tonight. What worries me is that I have 2 PCs on which it's doing the same thing, so maybe the USB port of the external hard drive is dead. I tried with 2 different cables and I thought about turning on the external hard drive. Yes, I know I'm blonde but I'm working on it (ha ha ha!). Thank you for your advice. Best regards, FLOBER

Hello everyone  I see that you are knowledgeable about the Storex MPix 357 500 GB  can you help me?  My PC recognizes the Storex, but the software which, according to the manual, should allow me to add movies (PC-Bax) is asking for an activation key, do you know where it is?  I registered online and they were supposed to send me a .cil file as an attachment, but there's nothing attached.   I need heeeeelp, this has been frustrating me for 2 days already. Hello small info the detection of the mpix 357 500 G disk is finally working properly for this I go to device manager disk off and plugged in turn it on and quickly click on the small plug and play hardware scan icon and it works, it recognizes it. Good luck

Hello,  What kind of bad manipulations did you do? If you no longer have a display on your television (which happened to me!), it means you must have changed the video output, so to get it back to the right one, you need to connect your device to the TV, let it charge for about 1 to 2 minutes, and press the VIDEO OUT button on the remote until you get the display back. Pour mettre à jour vos codecs afin de lire tous les films sur MPix 357, vous pouvez suivre ces étapes :

1. **Télécharger un pack de codecs** : Allez sur le site d'un pack de codecs réputé comme K-Lite Codec Pack ou VLC Media Player qui inclut ses propres codecs.

2. **Installer le pack de codecs** : Exécutez le fichier d'installation et suivez les instructions à l'écran pour installer le pack de codecs.

Hello I bought a STOREX mpix 357 in mainland France last August At first, no problems, storing photos, movies, and music but recently, nothing works anymore supposedly my version has expired and I am being asked to replace the file CRISTIE.LIC with another one (????) when I turn on my mpix 357, I see "LOAD" continuously displayed and when I connect it to the PC the screen goes off, and only the "standby" LED lights up I've tried everything: connecting a USB key, TV socket, Ethernet socket even the PC doesn't recognize it, whereas before "STOREX" appeared on the workstation I do not wish to format it before backing up my photo files (lots of photos from French Guiana) I thank you in advance for any good advice I cannot return to the hexagon right away reward: sending great files of fauna and flora from French Guiana thank you Henri

Hello Henri,  So to start, you shouldn't confuse everything; PC-BAX is a backup software that is not related to the functioning of your STOREX device at all. In short, you don't have to install it to use your STOREX; it has nothing to do with it; it's an additional software that is offered with the purchase of your disk.  Have you tried your STOREX on another computer?  I'm here if you need help...  Good luck!

For your black and white image on your TV remote, you can choose between AV and AV1. For me, it works in AV1 in color; otherwise, in AV, I'm in black and white. Also, check the setup menu on your Storex for the choice between PAL or multi-format.  P.S. For those who recommend reformatting the hard drive to NTFS, this can cause problems for multi-boots with Windows 98 and Me, and for USB sticks that are formatted in FAT32.

Hello everyone, As for me, I have a strange problem. I was given a Storex mpix357 multimedia hard drive. When I connect it to my MacBook, it appears directly on my desktop, so no problems there. However, when I start transferring files, that's when it freezes. In fact, I can transfer a few photos, at best a few songs, but as soon as I try to transfer a movie, a folder of music or photos, the copy starts but stops midway. And then, it’s impossible to cancel the transfer; the application completely crashes. To get out of this, I either have to turn off the multimedia hard drive or shut down my Mac by holding the button. When I use the hard drive on my brother's computer, which runs Windows Vista, he can transfer his files without any issues, as much as he wants. The hard drive is formatted in FAT32. I’ve tried a thousand times, formatting, different FAT32 formats etc... I've tried partitions and so on... but nothing changes. The file transfer freezes after a certain amount of time, sometimes at the beginning and at best in the middle.  I’m going to end up cracking...! Thank you for helping me.

It turns out that now I have 360 GB used out of the 480 available, and the files are visible on PC
but not at all when I want to use the television

Is this the cause and if yes, how can I switch to FAT32 without data loss, as the people at Storex suggested

Hello, on the Storex Mpix357
it's been over 2 years since I've had my Storex without much problem. Just one issue I can't solve. Connected to my PC, all my movies in the file appear fine and there's no playback problem. However, when connected to the television, they do not appear and it shows "root" on the screen.
What is my problem? I think it might be a remote control mishandling.

Good evening,
like some of you, I encountered problems with my mpix 357 regarding the transfer of files from the PC to the mpix (the reverse works very well), the transfer was extremely slow or even impossible (error: file too long).
Here is my solution which requires disassembling the mpix (be careful about the warranty, a screw is hidden under a sticker). For my part, my product was no longer under warranty...
You need to remove the hard drive from its multimedia case to connect it to the PC (PC turned off, of course) using the SATA connections. Restart the PC, and normally the hard drive is not only recognized but the transfer problem is also resolved. All that’s left is to reassemble it in its case once the transfer is complete.
I hope this helps you in your problem-solving approach. You might also consider investing in a new multimedia case without a hard drive to install the one present in your Storex case.
