Hello everyone
I've been following your discussion but
my problem is that I plug my S-video cable into the socket of the same name on the PC (I have an Nvidia card) and the other end into the same socket on the TV
problem: no image
no sound
thanks in advance

As I already specified, I think Sam, when you go into the settings, don’t touch anything except for the color type selection if you want to, that’s all!
You should not change any parameters because everything is done through your PC as soon as it detects that you have connected to your TV!
If it defaults to a configuration, it’s because that’s the one that fits! Moreover, you must set your screen to 800x600 max when watching movies, otherwise you risk having a distorted desktop.
When you’re not watching a movie, you can always set it to 1024x768 if you wish!
Your PC is screen 1 and screen 2 is not activated because you shouldn’t touch it, and if you activate it to tinker or change your color type, you can activate it, but it’s temporary.
In fact, it activates itself as long as you have previously connected to your TV; otherwise, if you activate it manually, you will never have anything more than access to its settings, and if you tinker with it, even if you put it back, you won’t be able to make it work again. You will have caused a disaster! If that’s the case, restore everything at startup, or maybe you need to have the restore or reset option under advanced settings.
Your default screen is activated, and the other one, if it works, will start up automatically at startup if connected to the PC.
As for the standard cable thing, that’s what I’d like to know, but I unfortunately think that yes based on what a salesperson told me tonight at Conforama, but well! To be continued anyway.
So don’t worry, and don’t touch anything; plug it in, start it up, and see if you see your launch on your TV like on the screen, then launch your player normally, and everything will be fine.
Best regards, @ +

Hi, look in properties when you right-click in the empty space and then settings. You have 2 squares representing your 2 screens, the 1 for your computer and the 2 for your TV. From there, you can drag the screens. You should have your screens overlapping. Have fun dragging them around and remember to activate your second screen and put a DVD in playback to find your way back. I hope you'll find the solution.
Hi,
I've also had quite a few problems getting the color... Actually, I have a S-video/Scart adapter that I had to dismantle to bridge pins 15 and 20... since then, everything's perfect, I have a color image... However, there's no sound... Usually, S-video outputs handle sound (at least that's what I thought). If someone could confirm this hypothesis... otherwise, I would buy a jack/RCA cable... Thanks, see you!

Hi, I connected a scart plug to my TV which is linked (on the other end) to my computer via an S-video socket.
When I turn on my computer and TV (TV on AV), the first images, those of the Windows XP loading screen, are displayed correctly, but as soon as the image (the one where you have to choose a user) appears on my computer, the image on my TV disappears. There you go, it annoys me, I have a powerful computer and everything I need, and I don't understand anything!!!

Hello,
I have exactly the same color problem through the SCART connection. I tried on a TV with a S-Video output directly and there was no issue (color). Unfortunately, my TV only has a SCART output. What can I do?

you need 2 cables:
- 1 for the video
- 1 for the audio
No problem using the SCART connector
For your black-and-white image issues, your TV needs to be PAL (but all of them are now) and you also need to configure your graphics card.
For me, it's in the display properties menu and in the "Advanced" tab
Good luck

My apologies, but it's true that I rarely check
my emails ....
I found the solution.. if you haven't found it yet.. you can
contact me again: actually, it's a VHS S-VHS issue that occurs
when your PC is very new and your DVD player works in s-VHS and
your TV in VHS.. a small adapter solves the problem very well...
TA-TA!

Hi, I have the same problem as you. I have a GeForce4 video card with S-Video output and the image on my TV is in black and white! Do you know how to fix it? Thanks.
Je veux connecter mon PC à ma télé avec un câble S-Video et j'ai besoin d'aide, je galère trop, que faire, quel paramètre je ne trouve pas ?
Confirmation of the bridging of pins 15 and 20, but don't forget to switch to NTSC-M for the audio. Indeed, S-VIDEO does not carry sound; you must use RCA or S-VIDEO and RCA cables, which are available commercially.
Hello.
Hello.
Hey, I have the same issue as you
plus the desktop icons aren’t showing up
let's keep each other updated, thanks

Hi,
I have the same problem as Anthony. I have a portable Inspiron 8500 with an ATI Radeon 9000. The computer is connected via S-video cable to my TV. On the TV screen, I only see the wallpaper of my desktop, without the icons. When I play a DVD on the computer, nothing else happens on the TV screen. Help, thanks in advance.
Have a good day everyone.
Phil

Hello everyone!
I have been following your conversation with interest because I would also like to connect my PC to my TV (with both image AND sound :D), but I have no idea what equipment to buy. If someone could help me, that would be great.
I have:
-> an ATI Radeon 7500 card (with S-Video output)
-> a TV with a SCART socket (but no S-Video)
Thank you in advance for your help!

The bridging of pins 15 and 20 works perfectly!!
I now have the color!
Thank you, Nono
I didn't know this forum, I found it via Google and it's now in my favorites :-)

Hello,
I have an ATI Radeon 9200 SE, and even though I have set up the screens to be multiple monitors and they are considered active in the display settings, screen 2 is still marked as inactive in the parameters setting. Therefore, I have no image.
Can Windows XP prevent the settings from working?
The connection is made via an S-video/RCA adapter. Are the adapters standard?
I'm not sure if my explanations are clear, but if anyone has an idea... Thanks in advance.

amd athlon 1800 (1.8 ghrz)
512mo of ddr memory
energy 15" screen (which is about 3 or 4 years old)
80go partitioned hard drive (fat 32) in c: and d:
with os: c:\ windows 98se and d:\windows xp home
sound card: sb live! value (and four speakers)
video card ati radeon 9200 128 mo +tv
2 cables with 3 rca (2 audio) (1 s-video) on the tv side connected to a scart (input output positions)
on the pc side: the audio cable connected to a small adapter (I can’t remember what it's called) to plug 2 jacks (the one from the cable and from the
pc into the same hole)
and I think that’s called vga (apparently of better quality) (connection a bit like a ps2) sorry for my ignorance about this.
the tv (it's 2 years old) has only a scart socket!
it's a "grandin" usvh.
hello friends,
best wishes to all in advance,
I just treated myself to the little Christmas indulgence of this ati video card but I’m a bit disappointed as well because while the image is absolutely flawless and the sound is just as good on both speakers and tv (I think some have forgotten to plug in the little power strip by pushing both jacks of the cable and the pc all the way in)
but everything is in black and white on both 98 and xp and what’s annoying is that if I change the slightest parameter it’s messed up even if I set it back to how it was before (and maybe that's why some end up like me with the xp theme without the icons and frozen)
moreover, on the pc side, the image is distorted when I start connected to the tv! (like rounded, misshaped on the sides) but on the tv it's great. so every time I do tests I have to restore with f8 system restore.
no color on the tv which no longer responds to the color menu adjustment (those who don’t see the passed image maybe didn’t set their remote in "av"
I didn't know where that was (it's not marked but it’s at 0 for me)
the 2nd screen (tv) it shows me in 8 bits on xp and in 256 colors on win98 and at 60 hrtz frequency
resolution 640 x 480 on both os.
I tried in the color addition to choose an option to add but it seems like that doesn’t change anything both on the tv and the pc:
even if the tv output is not connected, normally.
my image disappoints me (I don't know how to adjust these colors to my liking too dark and unattractive)
I had the 3d prophet 4000 xt without tv output but god what a beautiful image it had. (if you can also tell me how to configure that because supposedly the new card is more powerful thanks!)
in summary, many of us have this black and white problem except for 1 who seems to have solved the issue!
what's this 15 20 bridging? where does it go and where can I find it? (connection?)
thanks a lot to everyone if you can steer me and the first one who has the solution informs the others! (maybe this bridging it seems!)
ok?! cool! B-)
see you later!
