I managed to get an image on my TV by connecting my PC/TV via S-video, but there's no sound.Thank you for your help.

I specify my question because I have no answer: I have an NVIDIA GeForce video card and have connected the S-Video cable from the card to the TV. In the settings, both screens are correctly identified and the DVD plays on both screens, but I have no sound on the TV.

Hi, I connected a scart plug to my TV which is linked (on the other end) to my computer via an S-video socket.
When I turn on my computer and TV (TV on AV), the first images, those of the Windows XP loading screen, are displayed correctly, but as soon as the image (the one where you have to choose a user) appears on my computer, the image on my TV disappears. you need 2 cables:
- 1 for the video
- 1 for the audio

No problem using the SCART connector

For your black-and-white image issues, your TV needs to be PAL (but all of them are now) and you also need to configure your graphics card.
For me, it's in the display properties menu and in the "Advanced" tab

Actually, I have a S-video/Scart adapter that I had to dismantle to bridge pins 15 and 20... since then, everything's perfect, I have a color image... However, there's no sound... Confirmation of the bridging of pins 15 and 20, but don't forget to switch to NTSC-M for the audio. Indeed, S-VIDEO does not carry sound; you must use RCA or S-VIDEO and RCA cables, which are available commercially.

I have an ATI Radeon 9200 SE, and even though I have set up the screens to be multiple monitors and they are considered active in the display settings, screen 2 is still marked as inactive in the parameters setting. Therefore, I have no image.
Can Windows XP prevent the settings from working?
The connection is made via an S-video/RCA adapter. Are the adapters standard?

I just treated myself to the little Christmas indulgence of this ati video card but I’m a bit disappointed as well because while the image is absolutely flawless and the sound is just as good on both speakers and tv (I think some have forgotten to plug in the little power strip by pushing both jacks of the cable and the pc all the way in)
but everything is in black and white on both 98 and xp and what’s annoying is that if I change the slightest parameter it’s messed up even if I set it back to how it was before (and maybe that's why some end up like me with the xp theme without the icons and frozen)
moreover, on the pc side, the image is distorted when I start connected to the tv! (like rounded, misshaped on the sides) but on the tv it's great. so every time I do tests I have to restore with f8 system restore.
no color on the tv which no longer responds to the color menu adjustment (those who don’t see the passed image maybe didn’t set their remote in "av"
I didn't know where that was (it's not marked but it’s at 0 for me)
the 2nd screen (tv) it shows me in 8 bits on xp and in 256 colors on win98 and at 60 hrtz frequency
resolution 640 x 480 on both os.
I tried in the color addition to choose an option to add but it seems like that doesn’t change anything both on the tv and the pc:
even if the tv output is not connected, normally.
my image disappoints me (I don't know how to adjust these colors to my liking too dark and unattractive)
I had the 3d prophet 4000 xt without tv output but god what a beautiful image it had. (if you can also tell me how to configure that because supposedly the new card is more powerful thanks!)
in summary, many of us have this black and white problem except for 1 who seems to have solved the issue!

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas, yoyo, I don't know if I explained myself well but it should work if configured correctly. In the discussion, we talked about the 2 cables (see patcha's message). This being for the configuration, those who have an ATI like me, go here and you will know everything and have the drivers (great) for me even under XP it’s settled. So meet at: http://atifrst.nexenservices.com/index.php3?article=10 For the GeForce, I believe that what controls everything is TwinView. I only know it by reputation but I suppose that for the other cards the principle is the same so even if you have something else, go to this site you'll understand better. Install the latest full version driver with its control panel and connect to your TV then start your computer once its screen (the 1 configured and leave the other one recognized at startup! It seems that the GeForce is difficult to configure but I’ve seen that any error in the configuration and boom even resetting it is screwed. That might be your problem so my advice is to reinstall, follow your help's instructions carefully, set to France (PAL B), and there’s no reason it shouldn’t work! Leave the default configuration at the beginning while waiting to know more! Let us know your type of card too if you want help from those on the forum. Hi everyone,  for these "static" office problems on your TV screens, it's really quite simple... Actually, you just need to drag the window you want to display on the TV screen, which is usually on the left. In this case, what you need to do is click as if you were moving a window on your "normal" desktop and drag it completely to the left.  It's a no-brainer but effective; we sometimes forget the importance of priorities...  PS it is possible that an option may prevent you from moving a window to the left screen, in which case adjust your display settings with the video card (like nview for Nvidia...)  See you!

Hello everyone,My problem is as follows: I want to connect my laptop (a Toshiba Satellite 2410-515 - NVIDIA GeForce4 Go 420 video card with 32MB of memory) to a second external screen or a TV. I can project the desktop and applications like Office onto both types of screens, but as soon as I use a video player (DVD, DIVX), only the internal screen can display the video images. Hi, I have never had a mobile phone, and personally I have a Radeon 9200, however I can say that generally if I understand the problem correctly, it's an overlay problem, a balance between the two screens. Check in your video card control panel in your display settings if you are in theater mode (select theater mode or better yet sometimes identical display) apply ok! restart TV connected. If you have MSIDVD as a DVD player or even probably other players, you should have in your settings the theater mode selection (try to select it as well) although for me it doesn't really work, I set it to bright because it's too dark for my taste! But in your card settings, set it to identical display or theater! The best option if you have it is identical display. However, be aware that it's normal for the image on your machine to be a bit darker when you play a movie on the TV, but not to the point of being dark. Keep me posted! Julien, I think we've already talked about this, but if you haven't seen it, I'll remind you! By default, your card should display in its display settings (right-click in a blank space on the screen + left-click on properties/settings/advanced with the TV connected and active to the computer) click on TV and go to the format tab, then you will probably see default options such as United States or NTSC or maybe, but less likely, SECAM) click on the little down arrow and select France or PAL B. Click apply and ok! Close and restart the computer with the TV on AV (at first it appears in black and white, but as soon as Windows starts or announces (welcome to XP is displayed in color on the TV) however, to do this you must have the full version of your card's driver, meaning the driver and its control panel where you have all the settings for both screens, color adjustments, flicker removal (set the slider to max), etc. That's all! You don't need to modify your connections! The welcome image is poor, but the movie will play perfectly (set it to identical display or theater mode) Best regards, enjoy your movie.  Christo

Hello, no, it's you who did it wrong! Go to your card settings: click on an empty space on your desktop / click properties / click on the settings tab / click on advanced / click on display / click on the image of your computer / click on apply after setting it preferably to 1024/768 and in maximum resolution (for XP it's usually 85Hz) now click in the corner of the image of your TV (your cable is plugged in of course and always on display of course) to activate the TV contact / click on attributes (the tab) push the contrast and color saturation sliders all the way to the right / click on the settings tab and now click to validate over scanning  click on the advanced tab / push the flicker reduction slider all the way to the maximum to the right / set composite sharpness to maximum by clicking on the down arrow / video sharpness to more / scrolling to standard / now the most important (that's why you don't have color) / click on format (the tab) and validate by clicking in the round by country or region and below where there is the down arrow (click) select France) you can also validate the round by format and in this case select PAL B then click on apply and click OK in the new window do the same in the end do the same again! there you go, it's done, restart your computer connected to the TV: at startup, you will be in black and white and as soon as the Windows logo appears, you switch to color! now thank you Christopher, keep me updated see you later, enjoy your movie! ;-)

re, small clarification you both see by default that regardless of the video card it appears in NTSC format, whereas some countries need PAL and others SECAM (like VCRs) and by selecting by country and entering your country, the card automatically sets itself to the correct selection (in France PAL B) and don’t forget to validate identical display otherwise you’ll see the desktop but not the film. or not the same format but since I had you select overscan, in principle, the computer controls the TV format. those who don’t know, read all this because we can’t keep explaining it all! and of course, once again, to make these adjustments, you need not only the driver but the control panel, so the full version (complete version of the graphics card) catalyst: (full version) the other cards: xnview, I think, and twinview for the geforce, I think! Good evening, you need to buy what is called a TV card that comes with a CD-ROM with drivers to install, and it will also install the program you'll need to watch your channels (generally wintv and I have two, wintv 2000 and wintv32). The card easily plugs into a PCI bus (when you open the computer, the white rails), you insert the card's pins into a free bus (AGP is brown), you see, there's a manual included. Once connected, you have a cable included with one side S-Video on the TV card and an audio connection, then the antenna just like a normal TV. When you start the computer, it will recognize the new hardware, then you launch the CD-ROM and install everything. Then, when you open the program, it will offer to scan for channels. When it finds the channels, right-click, I think, to name the channels (channel 22 you call TF1, 28 France 2, etc...) Move the pointer and you have tooltips showing you the color, audio configuration, etc., but by default, it does that, only you have to specify for the audio whether the output is speaker or line out, etc.) I get better quality than real TV. Read the manual and the help file, it’s not difficult and not very long. The price of the card (at least 690 FF to 700 FF I think) finally the equivalent in euros. A friend gave me his as a thank you for fixing his computer (his little girl had messed up the settings lol awful!) It’s really great, but close as many programs as possible for it to work well. I solved the problem by configuring the video card of the PC to PAL as explained above, but also by setting my TV to receive AV in S-video! Yes, on newer TVs, the video channel offers several types of possible inputs, including S-video. Once configured, everything is perfect.

Good evening, let's be clear not everyone has the same video card but the principle is the same: you can have the driver but just the driver! you need the full version which you can find on your card's website: when you go to the configuration (right-click in the empty space on your desktop and then left-click on properties) the display window opens! click on settings then on advanced: there, if you have the full version, a large window will open with a bunch of tabs (rotation, color management, display, etc.) click on display and you should probably see two images of your TV and your computer screen! start by clicking on the screen tab and make sure you are at hrtsz on optimal or 85hrtz then click on apply and ok now close everything and go back to display, click on or above the image of the computer and apply the settings. Go to your TV and there you should see the number of hertz and make sure it's 60hrtz, validate the overscan, it's better and you should probably see secam click on the downward arrow (it's probably the same song for everyone) and select France if you see France otherwise select "pal B" click on apply and you can only do all this if you started with your cables plugged in when all this is done, play your DVD on the computer with your player, take your TV remote and press 0 or maybe on some it's av and then it should appear if you've plugged in your three cables properly the movie or if there's no movie the desktop and in color I have a scart with three cables in one after if you have color settings it's not with your TV but on the computer that you adjust! on your computer, the image will be dark, that's normal! your machine is having difficulty managing everything at once if you have the TV output, the driver with what's called the control panel, your scart and cables properly connected and you're on av on the TV remote it should work otherwise see the repairman! that's all we can't say more! friendly good luck: (my site: ) http://perso.wanadoo.fr/ramana.monsite/ @ +!

Thanks to this site, I've already made good progress on the connection. Where I've advanced the most is with the story of the 2 squares. Now my problem is that I have a good image but in black and white. The bridge between 15 and 20 gives me nothing; however, its terminals are already wired (when I did the bridge, I had the image of the 1 AND IN THE BACKGROUND MY DVD WITH STRANGE COLORS). re, indeed the secam transmits in black and white that said there are several pal (d, e, etc...) I haven't tested what the pal error would do but it's enough to check that for france=palB or better as I said to select by country! I would be surprised if you don't have this option! by the way in the example on your page we can clearly see it in the image! see you! -- christo

NOT ABLE TO WATCH A MOVIE ON TV????    I had this problem too, I did a lot of reading, but I believe it's written nowhere...... after trying many things, I found a rather stupid solution but it works perfectly for me.   1 Make sure to see a color clone on our television,  2 right-click on the desktop, properties, settings  3 select the second monitor (TV)  there are 2 checkboxes at the bottom, (for me with XP)  empty box in front = use this device as the primary monitor checked box in front = extend the Windows desktop to this monitor  4 the television will no longer be a clone of the screen but will display the wallpaper without icons.....  5 open winamp (Windows Media Player) run your movie, and drag the movie to the television, then maximize it, and you're good to go  good luck, I hope this can help you.

Hello everyone, I notice that quite a few of you are having various issues with connecting your PC to your TV. For quality reasons, I first recommend S-Video (with a shielded cable to reduce interference), followed by the SCART connection and lastly RCA. But be careful with graphics cards. S-Video outputs have different standards. The 4-pin (standard on TVs, DVD players, VCRs, camcorders, etc.) comes first, then the S-Video with 7 to 9 pins, which are referred to as DIN and Mini DIN. The Mini DIN with 7 pins can be compatible with a 4-pin cable if the holes align the same way. However, the 7-pin is compatible with VHF S-Video but not always with S-VHF S-Video. It's all quite a headache to figure out. In any case, almost all cables are adaptable to each situation depending on your configuration. The simplest option is also to share the desktop in the display properties to have two separate and distinct screens, and not two identical desktops with the same icons. Hello, I bought a Diamond Stealth Radeon 9520 video card with an S-Video output. I connected the S-Video cable to my computer, but unfortunately my TV doesn't have an S-Video input, so I bought an adapter that converts S-Video to the yellow cable. Get yourself an audio cable with both yellow ends connected to the TV audio output and the headphone output of your PC.

You need a small block where you can plug in the yellow cable (image) and the red and white cables (sound), not to forget the s-video.  The yellow one will not be used since you are replacing it with the s-video.  For the audio, connect a male RCA and on the other end, the red/white for sound.  That will work ;)

J'ai un beau problème. Moi, j'ai une sortie VGA, DVI et HDMI. Sur ma TV, j'ai S-Video et RCA, donc je me suis procuré un adaptateur VGA à S-Video. Mais quand je branche le tout, rien ne marche, aucune vidéo. Et normalement, aucun son puisque c'est S-Video, le son, je m'en fous, mais je veux avoir au moins la vidéo, s'il vous plaît.
