Disable auto power-on for a soundbar

Hello,

I connected a Samsung HWB410F soundbar to a Sony KD32W800 TV using an optical (Toslink) cable.

Turning on the TV causes the soundbar to turn on.

I would like to disable this automatic behavior and be able to turn the soundbar on whenever I want.

How can I proceed?

Thank you

Hello and welcome as a new member. My opinion: if you have a switch on the soundbar, you use it

      Good evening,

There is a push-button switch on the soundbar to turn it on or off. It can also be turned on with the remote control.

But if it is off, when the TV is turned on it automatically powers on.

That is what I would like to disable because it is a factory default setting.

I want to be able to turn it on either with its remote control or with its switch, and I do not want the TV turning it on automatically.

    Hello,

Type of interface for your soundbar:

1x HDMI output HDMI eARC HDMI-CEC USB 2.0 1x digital optical audio input

Unless I’m mistaken, try disabling HDMI CEC on your TV.

    Consumer Electronics Control (CEC)

CEC allows you to control multiple HDMI-compatible devices with a single remote. When CEC is enabled, you can control your TV, your Blu-ray player, your AV receiver and other HDMI-compatible devices from a single remote. For example, turning on your TV can also turn on your Blu-ray player and switch to the correct input channel.

CEC thus makes navigation between devices easier and provides a smoother user experience.

Otherwise, try unplugging the power plug from your soundbar.

      Hello,

A fairly modern TV wakes up almost every connected device; besides unplugging the cable, there must be a one-time action such as setting the TV to audio output to the speakers only (and not the soundbar) or lowering the soundbar volume to zero.

A roughly modern TV wakes up almost every connected peripheral. No, because neither my canal+ decoder nor my DVD player, permanently connected to the TV via HDMI, turn on when I switch on the TV.

In practice the peripherals (in my case outside of the soundbar, the set-top box and a TNT tuner/recorder adapter) are not turned off but the TV is left in standby.

Mine then systematically searches for these peripherals and turns them on automatically without using their own remote or the TV remote, but of course it only displays their content by switching to the corresponding HDMI source.

I'm not sure, to test by disabling Digital Audio In via the source button!

Possible, I'll try. I hadn't thought of that.

For now, the only way to avoid turning it on is simply to unplug the soundbar from the 220-volt outlet. But it's not very convenient since you have to plug it back in every time you want to use the soundbar.

    Hello,

The only connection between the TV and the soundbar is the optical cable?

Is there no remote pairing to control the soundbar from the TV remote?

yes, only the optical cable (Toslink) connects the soundbar to the TV.

      No HDMI connection

The indicates on page 70 of the pdf (34 French):
The Soundbar does not turn on automatically with the TV.
If you turn off the Soundbar while watching the TV, the TV power synchronization is disabled.
Turn off the TV and the Soundbar with the TV remote.

Try turning off the soundbar before turning off the TV to see if, when you power the TV back on, the bar turns on again or not.
