Computer that locks itself automatically

Hello

For a few weeks now, my computer locks itself while I am using it. When I unlock it, a LENOVO application opened as well as the calculator multiple times.

Computer info: IDEAPAD3 15ITL6. Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz (2.42 GHz)

Two weeks ago it was the Lenovo Smart Key application and the Calculator. As a solution, I disabled this application. Except now the LENOVO Vantage application and the calculator open.

I specify that no key is being pressed on my keyboard.

When I want to re-enter my PIN to unlock it, I encounter difficulties (bug, it stops accepting input for a short period)

Does anyone have any idea where the problem might come from?

    Hello,

    If you want to reinstall Windows from a USB key

    Back up your data, browser favorites, everything you need to keep from C:\Users\You... to an external drive

    From a working PC, use the link to download the Windows ISO file to create a USB key (8 to 16GB minimum) to update, repair, or install Windows

    Once you have the Windows ISO file, you can create a bootable USB drive with Rufus or Ventoy

    In GPT mode for UEFI (Secure Boot Support for Ventoy depending on how the BIOS is configured)

    Start from it using the PC’s Boot Menu key

    We can search on Google for "[Brand Model] Boot Menu Key"

    Click (If offered): Previous version of the configuration

    Select "Custom installation" (Not upgrade)

    You don’t have to format if there is space; if there is data, they will be found in a Windows.old folder (which will be automatically deleted after 10 days)

    Install on the same partition, or optionally, delete all system partitions and create a new one (Deletes data).

    Lenovo Smart Key, LENOVO Vantage, are they really indispensable?

    Personally I would uninstall all of that as well as the calculator, restart.

    If better, reinstall the calculator.

      I don’t think it’s essential. I disabled them after the bug.
      I started the reset, with file preservation. I hesitated with the restoration, but given all the keyboard bugs there were now.
      Thanks for your advice. Fingers crossed that the reset will manage to resolve all of this.

    Thank you for your response. I followed your recommendations. It only worked for 1 day.

    Now, my PC locks because the calculator opens in the background. So that does not solve the problem. I will not also disable the calculator.

    What do you think?

      Check the auto-lock settings in Settings > Personalization > Lock screen and disable the option "Require password after inactivity".

    Thank you, but that didn’t solve my problem ☹️ My PC locks again and I’m having trouble unlocking it because the keyboard stops responding for a while. Even though it is intact. I’ve updated the driver, etc.

    And when I unlock it, the calculator is open in the background.

    Hello,

    I have already reset and repaired the calculator. Nothing has changed. The current problem is that I can no longer unlock my computer, the keyboard is not responding well and won’t accept my PIN, and when I do manage it it shows me this message: "this sign-in option is disabled due to failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns. Use another sign-in option or leave your device on for at least 2 hours"

    I am forced to wait 2 hours before I can open it

      Hello,

      What I propose is to set it to "never" just to see what happens.

      Otherwise, given the number of problems, a clean Windows installation might be helpful. Spending hours or even days trying to repair; it’s easier to start over from a healthy base. Post 5 from fabul, good advice.

      Or a system restore, choosing a date before the problem if possible.

      Also sfc /scannow

      Otherwise create a new local administrator account (without Microsoft sign-in) and sign in with it to test. It’s possible your account is corrupted.

    Restart in Safe Mode with Networking, as in my reply at #5, back up your personal data as a precaution, and use the last link at the bottom.

    RegRun Reanimator, or Autoruns, may reveal suspicious things? Should they be disabled or removed?

    I was able to use it for 10 minutes before it locks itself. I didn’t have the same labels as you in your tutorial. I tested the 3rd one and it detected 0 malware.

    It’s surprising that I could use it for 10 minutes. And afterwards it locks, I enter my PIN and even if the PIN is correct it blocks me…

      When it detects 0 Malware, you can click Inspection Mode. (Be careful: in Inspection Mode it detects everything.) It’s more good than bad, but it allows you to visualize everything that starts with Windows, mainly in the Startup Programs and Services tabs.

      To see fewer items, but still some false positives, click the Filter Set > "Display All but Exclude Signed by Microsoft/Google/Greatis"

      Anything not digitally signed by reliable companies will be shown.

      You need to know how to sort, otherwise if there are problems with Windows itself nothing is safe except reinstalling Windows from a USB key.
