Transferring WhatsApp chats

This is not a question but a clarification.

Installing WhatsApp on a new phone, whether from scratch or by cloning the old one, does not restore the chats. In the latter case, it is constant that you need to uninstall and then reinstall WhatsApp.

In the past, I have been an advocate for local backup: you copy the backup files from the old phone to a PC, create the WhatsApp directory structure on the new phone without installing it, and then copy those files, as WhatsApp reads them during the new installation.

This method no longer works with the new versions of WhatsApp, leaving only the options of direct Wifi (which in my case did not work because the old phone, although quite recent, could not read the QR code properly) or Google backup.

Therefore, aside from dedicated applications whose value I do not know apart from their cost, I can only recommend the Google method, and of course without even considering that the old phone may no longer be operational, and it needs to be set up in advance on the old phone because of this fact.
