Hello everyone,

Following the event mentioned in the title, I would like to hear your opinions on the measures to take to preserve the security of one's computer when one is neither able to upgrade to Windows 11 nor able to subscribe to the special update reception program?

For example, I presume (correct me if I'm wrong) that we can no longer rely too much on the integrated firewall of Windows 10. What firewall (free, if possible, otherwise, let me know anyway) could be a good alternative to cope with the weakening of one's computer?

Thank you for reading.

    Hello,

For me, it wouldn't change much, because even with Windows 11, I disable everything in Windows security, I rely more on thoughtful clicks, and on RegRun Security Suite Platinum (Main PC), or UnHackMe (for my other PCs). UnHackMe is sometimes offered as a Giveaway (Free) when we monitor software giveaway sites, with a lifetime license without updates, but you can use a version for a long time without updating it without losing too much effectiveness.

For an overview with RegRun Reanimator, which does a good job, even though the free version does not monitor automatically, it is only there to assist on demand.

For the firewall, and a blocker for WEB scripts, see my response here.

Ultimately, what is bothersome is more the compatibility of other software, which will end up no longer being compatible, or requiring more than Windows 10.

    Hello,

Apparently, you are on Windows 10, so in relation to your question, you should take a look here.

Thank you for sharing, but this option does not appeal to me much, given the age of my computer and the fact that it is already having difficulties running Windows 10.
