PC no longer displays all folders from the smartphone.

Hello,

The PC (Windows 11) detects my smartphone (Android 8.1) and displays the "internal storage".
However, only a few folders are displayed, while the others do not appear.

Previously, it was not like this, and the various folders were shown with their contents. (The same smartphone, the same cable, but with Android 7).
I don’t think the problem is due to version 8.1.

I have installed several other "drivers" for smartphones on Windows, but the issue has not been resolved.

Best regards,

Hello,

Make sure that when connecting the Smartphone it is in file transfer mode (MTP) as it is sometimes only in charging mode which prevents access to certain folders.

Also activate USB debugging by going to settings > About phone > Build number and tapping 7 times to enable developer options.

Then go to Developer options and enable USB debugging.

A transfer software can also be useful like:

Microsoft Phone Link or AirDroid for better file management.

Be sure to check the permissions especially when you connect your phone with a notification that must appear to allow access to the data. Accept it.

Restart the phone and your P.C. then clear the app cache: Storage on your Android.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

If the phone is detected, it means that file transfer has been activated on the phone and USB debugging is also enabled (typically, nothing shows up in charging mode). In some cases, for older Android versions, the generic ADB driver or the manufacturer-specific one (for example, Samsung) must be installed on the computer.

If during the "conversation" that takes place when connecting via USB we check Image Transfer or the equivalent instead of MTP, file transfer, or the like, we will only see those image files.

In general, if the phone is not rooted, we never see all folders, only those that are not protected by root privileges.

@brucine

Hello,

Thank you for your response.
Yes, as I told Didi64_549, all operations of this kind have already been completed.
I am not asking for the display of protected files.
I just want the folders I used to see to be displayed.

Thank you again.
Best regards,

@Didi64_549

Hello,

Thank you for your response.
Indeed, all the operations you mentioned, including restarting the smartphone, have already been performed, except for clearing the app cache, which I do not know how to do.

Regarding transfer software, maybe "Microsoft Phone Link" is worth testing, but I am not interested in other software that contains ads or collects personal information and installs its own applications on the smartphone, especially when they request very high permissions.

Thank you again.
Best regards,
