Devolo Magic 1 WiFi Not Connecting to Existing Network

Hello

I have acquired a Magic1 WiFi Mini to extend my existing WiFi network. The home indicator remains a steady red no matter what I do. Since Devolo has closed its French subsidiary, their customer service is no longer reachable. Therefore, I am looking for a solution to my problem.

Best regards

Guinor

The speed indicated for a kit is a "commercial" speed, i.e., the maximum total speed possible for the entire set of connection points (x Ethernet ports + x Wi-Fi).

A kit and its extensions can be configured to copy and take over the Wi-Fi key from the box.

Hello

for the "repeater" function,
you reset it, then plug it in near the box and don't touch it until the two indicators are white

is your current network a Magic 1 WiFi multiroom kit?

Hello,

Powerline Wi-Fi access points are not repeaters; they offer a new Wi-Fi network directly from their Powerline connection, so they must be connected to a Powerline modem network, which is itself connected to the Ethernet network of your router by another modem.

The home indicator shows synchronization with the Powerline modem network over the electrical current.

And there you have it ....

But goodness, those line spaces are so annoying !!

Hello

Thank you for this response. The problem is that I have carried out the planned manipulations and nevertheless the home LED remains fixed red. Furthermore, the module is overheating abnormally.

Sincerely, Guinor

Normally,

if he is all alone, he won't sync with anything through Powerline.

If you connect it via Ethernet to the box, you can turn it into an access point and the master module of a new Wi-Fi network in addition to the box's network.

When you add another Powerline modem, the house has a chance of turning green.

As mentioned earlier, he is not alone; he comes as an extension of an existing magic wifi 1 network connected to the box and which is working perfectly. I think I will return it.

You never said you had an existing magic PLC network, you said you had an existing wifi network, which is not the same.

Have you tried pairing the PLC again?

Press the pairing button on the new one and the one already connected to the box for 1 second (within 2 minutes).

I did it without success, this magic wifi1 mini purchased on LBC heats up, which is not the case for the one already in place, I think it is defective.

If the Kit has been installed as a local network with the provided wifi key, it will need to be paired with the PLC LAN.

If the Kit has been installed as a repeater with the same wifi key as the box, it will need to be paired with the box.

Um,

when I say pair, I mean at the PLC level, not at the Wi-Fi level.

This system does offer a mesh Wi-Fi, with a backhaul PLC probably; it seems to me that like all mesh systems, they recommend turning off the Wi-Fi from the box in order to replace it with the mesh Wi-Fi network from the repeaters.

The Wi-Fi configuration of the access points (they are not repeaters) is done automatically and synchronizes via the backhaul PLC.

It's possible that Devolo sets up Wi-Fi backhaul at the same time in the mesh, but they don't mention it, just like they don’t mention their Wi-Fi bands; what they do mention is that they have Ethernet ports at 100 Mbit/s, which is an admission that their PLC throughput of 1200 Mbit/s will never be achieved.
