Hi,

I assume you're talking about ipv4?

Like with other products:

either you go into the product's interface and manually configure its address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS resolvers if it needs to access the internet, because that's not necessary for everything, for example a printer.

Or you go into the router's interface and set up fixed IP addresses with permanent DHCP leases based on the MAC address or the name of the machine in question.

In both cases, you need to choose addresses outside the router's dynamic DHCP range, which can avoid conflicts and the problems that come with them.

After that,

I don't know your router's admin interface, but if you post some screenshots, I could help you move forward.

There you go ....

But goodness, those line breaks are so annoying!!

Hello,

On a a Bouygues box, there may be some tips that I’m missing.

Mine (SFR) only allows assigning a fixed IP address to a device based on its MAC address in the DHCP IPV4 settings, which is not very user-friendly.

The usual approach is to set the IP on the devices themselves (smartphones, printers, or others).

Thanks to Brucine for her reply and to everyone

I couldn't find the maneuver on my device (Fitzwilliam internet radio), so I proceeded with DHCP + IPV4 + MAC address successfully after some trial and error.

If it can help, here is a link with a description for BBox. The principle is the same for other ISPs.

Until next time.
