Foldable smartphones: revolution or just a gadget?

Hello everyone,
I’m starting this topic to discuss together about foldable smartphones, these devices that have generated a lot of ink over the past few years. With recent announcements (Galaxy Z Flip FE, Honor Magic V3, Oppo Find N3…) and marketing promises, it was time to take stock and open the debate!
Quick comparison
-
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6/7: The pioneer of the “tablet in your pocket” format. Giant screen, top-notch multitasking, but bulky and (very) expensive. Samsung masters the hinge, but the crease remains visible.
-
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE: Compact “compact case” format, more accessible, fun, but battery life and photography are a notch lower. A good compromise for those who want to try without breaking their budget.
-
Honor Magic V2/V3: Honor bets on thinness and lightness, with solid battery life. The interface is well-suited to the folding format, but the price remains high.
-
Oppo Find N3: More compact format, less visible crease, but limited availability and less rich ecosystem than Samsung.
-
Huawei Mate Xs 2: Folding outward, original design, but no Google services and elitist pricing.
Honestly, I’m a big fan of foldable phones. Without revealing my age, I loved the best flip models (the old-school ones) and found it sad that the market no longer offered them. That’s now a thing of the past, BUT foldable smartphones still remain a luxury today, not to mention the compromises that are still too numerous.
-
Stratospheric prices (often > €1500)
-
Durability and reparability not always there
-
Visible crease which may bother some
-
Battery life sometimes lacking
The “Flip” models are nice for their compactness, but all these compromises prevent me from giving in.
And you, would you be willing to give in for a foldable?
For those who have one: satisfied or disappointed with the experience?

Hello @EvilQueen666 StatutMembre
Personally, I saved up and switched to the HONOR Magic V3 a few months ago and I’m not disappointed!
In use, I realize I actually use it more closed 70% of the time than unfolded. But when it's unfolded, it's honestly great and the display on a browser is perfect.
The crease is honestly not too noticeable, at least it doesn't bother me.
It has very good battery life in my opinion, from 7 AM to 10 PM it stays between 25 and 40% battery depending on whether I’m using it intensively or not during the day.
That's what I can say
Thank you for sharing! Honor does really cool stuff, but it's a shame that their prices keep increasing over the years.
