Files: the modern alternative to Windows Explorer

Microsoft hasn’t introduced major innovations to its File Explorer for years, and many Windows users are calling for a more efficient and user-friendly file manager. Files is a free alternative that offers interesting features, including tabbed navigation, tagging of files and folders, and a double-pane display mode. It is open source and contains no trackers or ads. It is compatible with Windows 10 and 11. What are your opinions on Files? Have you ever tried using an alternative file explorer and what do you think?

    Files isn’t free! But it’s not too expensive either. Except that we’d like to try it before paying for it!

      It is paid on the Microsoft Store, donations are encouraged on Git Hub, but the classic installer seems free.

        Test done, I don’t see the interest of it, unlike that of alternative explorers in a number of situations (notably targeted searches), but each to their own.

        And the test in question doesn’t ask me to pay anything nor does it announce that it would be only a trial version.
