Hello, Thank you, your site is remarkable, well done.

I have done everything to remove a software called Epibrowser. I have followed your recommendations without success. I still have 2 windows that appear on the screen:

1. Black screen with a frozen command prompt: mentioning c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

2. Windows cannot find 'epibrowser.exe, check that you entered the full name? Please try again. When I click, the 2 windows close and remain in the taskbar. Each time I turn on the PC, I always find the windows without being able to do anything to get rid of this software that you have recommended as dangerous. I also downloaded the (free?) software from SpyHunter and it only works at a prohibitive price. I would therefore like to know what steps I can take to completely get rid of this application that is still recognized in the registry: conhost.exe?? I am not a specialist: who should I contact and what should I do without having to reinstall everything? Thank you for your desired response. Best regards. JFL

Hello,

Uninstall SpyHunter, it’s not worth a *

Try using RegRun Reanimator, download it from the official website

https://greatis.com/security/reanimator.html

Click on Fix Problems and then on Fix Malware Issues

Be careful, it detects risky items, sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes important as well, it’s important to sort them out by deduction or Internet research and/or VirusTotal analysis of executable files or drivers, to delete only viruses or unnecessary items.

https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload

There are tabs at the top to see the different types of items.

It shows details like types, names, and locations of the files, etc., which often provide concrete clues.

Whether an item is marked in red (often bad), yellow, blue, or green, it’s up to the user to assess the relevance of what it detects.

You can use right-click > Copy to Clipboard to copy the detection text. (This helps in research)

Check the items to delete and not the others and click the red button to delete them, and confirm, continue by clicking Next to check in all tabs where detected items are.

Then at Finish!, if needed, click the "Restart is Required" button to restart Windows.

If it doesn’t show what you want to detect, use Filter Set or Inspection Mode to see everything, but be extra cautious about what you delete.

Or by closing the first Reanimator window using the X at the top right, and the Reanimator tab > Anti Spyware Full Check...

Or On-Line Multi-Antivirus Scan

If you want to inspect and clean up unnecessary processes at startup with Autoruns and Services.msc

Download Autoruns here, extract everything to a new folder anywhere, and run it as an administrator.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

If there are error messages, try version 13.98

https://filehippo.com/fr/download_autoruns/13.98/

Look at all the details, research if needed.

In the "Logon" (Registry Run, Startup) and "Scheduled Tasks" tabs, disable or remove third-party unnecessary items from automatic startup that are not from Microsoft or important Windows ones, either by unchecking them or by right-clicking > Delete.

Look at the "Services" tab, but don’t disable them if they are sometimes useful, it’s better to set them to "Manual" (On Demand) mode using Windows services.msc, by right-clicking the Start button > Run: services.msc

With Autoruns, you have the list of Non-Windows services, which is helpful.

Changes will take effect after restarting Windows.

Come back to let us know.

Hello MisteryBean,

And hello again @oeimalin StatutMembre

I would add that in principle, you should remove everything that is not certain to be good with Reanimator, using the default analysis (Display Only Dangerous and Suspicious) except for important or known files; it scans Windows open ports for elements that are still or often unknown or known to be bad in Windows.

If you're having trouble with it, you can post screenshots or completely trust MisteryBean in response #2 for what's next.
