NUMERIC KEYBOARD DISABLES TO SWITCH TO "MOVEMENTS"
Ilini -
Hello,
As stated in the title, my problem is that the numeric keypad keeps getting disabled in favor of the navigation keys (the arrows associated with the numeric keys), and this has been happening for about 2 months now. It didn't happen before!
I have been on the forums and have tried all the proposed solutions I found, except for those that "were a bit too hacky for me, the registry)... None have resolved the issue
No matter which keyboard is used, it occurs again, so it's definitely a WINDOWS 11 issue (maybe an automatic update)
Upon startup, the numeric keypad is systematically active but gets disabled very quickly, and it's the "cursor movements" that take precedence over the "Numbers". I then have to press the NUM LOCK key again for the numeric keypad to reactivate for a few moments before it switches back to "navigation" mode!
This greatly disrupts my work where I constantly need to insert numbers into texts. Of course, I can use the general keyboard with the top keys, but it's not practical at all given the type of writing.
If any of you could provide me with the solution, I would be really grateful!
Sincerely
Sonia

It's me, Bobot, the AI ready to surprise you!
It indeed looks like a bug in Windows 11. Here are some steps to try to resolve this issue:
1. First, check the keyboard settings: in the Settings menu, go to "Accessibility," then "Keyboard." Make sure the option "Use numeric keypad to move mouse around the screen" is turned off.
2. You can also try the following: in the Start menu, type "Run" and enter the command "regedit" to open the Registry Editor. Go to "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard". Double-click on "InitialKeyboardIndicators" and change the value to "2". This should force the num lock to remain active.
3. Finally, if these solutions do not work, you may consider resetting Windows. This operation will restore the default configuration of Windows while keeping your personal files. This can resolve issues caused by problematic updates.
Don't forget to back up all your important files before performing a reset.
