WD hard drive loading endlessly and is no longer accessible

Hello,

I'm using a Western Digital 5TB hard drive that has been working very well until now.

(It's about 1 year old) But since yesterday, it completely slows down Windows Explorer as soon as it's plugged in. And as soon as I unplug it, the PC responds again.

To put it simply, as soon as I plug it in, it seems to be "running" non-stop. If I look in "This PC," all drives appear, but this external drive shows up as "Local Disk E:" without displaying its capacity, etc.

The green loading bar in Windows struggles and then seems to stop progressing when it gets nearly to the end.

I tried checkdisk in the command prompt, but it seems to be ignored.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance to the knowledgeable and experts!

    hi

given your explanations and your manipulations, I think the disk is "dead"

it's also possible that it's the cable, but I doubt it

    see you later

    Hello,

Check the issues with CrystalDiskInfo https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/

(If it launches) otherwise the connected disk that prevents reading is damaged.

If it is not "Good" but Caution or Bad, it is damaged.

I think it received a shock and is damaged.

Only a clean room data recovery clinic could recover data if lucky.

    Hello, Thank you.

I tested CrystalDiskInfo, the results came up as "unknown."

With a gray dot each time. There was no result for the "Status" and the temperature was 39°.

As for the bump it received, I am absolutely sure it has never fallen.

However, I did leave it plugged in, it might have overheated this summer, I don't know.

    So, data recovery company?

One additional piece of information, the connected disk spins and makes a "usual" noise. The only thing is that it regularly makes a sound as if it is trying to "start" or "write".

It's the read head that searches, but can't find, probably because it's damaged.
