Screen dims by itself

Hello,

I'm reaching out because I've had a problem for 2 days, my screen darkens by itself. I've looked everywhere before asking you, and I found this solution on Google.

To disable adaptive brightness and contrast on Surface devices running Windows 11, select the Start button, then select Settings > System > Display. In Display Settings, select Brightness, then to Change brightness based on content, select Disabled.

The problem is that if I follow this path, I don't have any "brightness" function.

I think it must be coming directly from my GPU "AMD" but I can't find it... Can someone help me?

Thank you

Hello,

It may depend on the light level you have at home, and based on that, the brightness decreases.

I don't think it's based on the brightness at home but rather on what is displayed on the screen. For example, if I'm on this page (which is very white), the brightness increases; however, if I'm on a dark page, like on Steam for instance, it darkens.

Hello,

The settings are very easy to find by searching for Brightness in the start menu.

You can imagine that I did this research before even asking for help. The brightness setting appears in settings > Display at the top, but not for me. I think that having an external graphics card instead of the one in my processor prevents me from adjusting the brightness. I posted a screenshot above to show that the brightness function is not available to me.

When I search for Brightness in the Windows 11 24H2 Start menu, I find a setting, the first one at the top that leads to: (Not in the same place as you)

The only thing I find in this category is the lighting of my mouse

but it's impossible to adjust the adaptive brightness of the screen.

Okay, sorry.

Have you changed any settings in Energy Recommendations?

In System > On/Off

There are settings that I don't dare click on to see more.

Yes, I had already set everything to "never". I had managed to fix this problem, but I formatted my computer 100% a few days ago and the settings returned to default..

Hi again,

It automatically darkens if it gets a little dim and brightens up again by itself.

And to disable all that, what is the procedure?

Hi,

I just realized after all this time that the problem is not with Windows but rather with my screen, as my second monitor doesn't darken when the primary one does..

In my opinion, it must be related to the settings, but there is no option to disable it..

Disconnect the power from your screen, then press the power button for 30 seconds to drain the capacitors and memory.

Does the screen require a specific driver to have or not have, which could cause bugs compared to the default one from Windows?

I found brightness by right-clicking on start - then system, and there it's listed first as Brightness...

I don't understand why it isn't there when going through settings.
