Upgrade from Android 10 to Android 11 Redmi Note 8 Pro

Hello,

I would like to know if it's possible to upgrade my Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro from Android 10 to a more recent version? The phone is up to date with everything.

I am on Xiaomi MIUI 12.0.

Hello,

If the phone doesn't offer it, then it's not possible unless you maybe root it and find an unofficial ROM at your own risk.

The dogma is that, except for some very high-end phones, manufacturers only guarantee updates for 2 or 3 years/versions, whichever comes first.

Okay; And what is the official end-of-support date for Android 10? Are there end-of-use/obsolescence dates like there are for Windows?

This smartphone is from 2020. I would like to know how many more years I can use it (surfing the Internet) without issues.

Android 10 has been at the end of its life since September 2022, which does not mean that it cannot be used.

The issue is that gradually a number of applications no longer work below a certain version.

The condemnation in absolute terms is very "generous"; to my knowledge, currently only Android 4n no longer works at all.

Until 2 years ago, I had a phone from 2016-2017 that stopped at Android 8 and worked perfectly for what I used it for, aside from its storage capacity; the usability duration of Android generally far exceeds the average lifespan/replacement time of mobile phones.
