How to change my main freemobile line

Hello,

I have 2 big problems with Free Mobile. When I first joined Free, I was with Bouygues for my mobile phone, and I took the first line with Free Mobile linked to my Freebox, a plan at 2 euros, which was zero euros for my daughter who was 11 years old at the time, and she therefore became the main account for my Free Mobile account, and that's what messes things up (as it does for many others by the way). Then I was paying too much with Bouygues, and I decided to switch to Free with the plan at 15.99 via my box, and since my daughter was growing up, I also got her the 15.99 plan.... Time goes by, my daughter is studying, etc., but I still pay for her Free plan.

Now with the new security measures for the account to retrieve Free Mobile bills, I have to go through her account to get the 2 invoices on the main account, which is my daughter's, and I have to keep asking her for a code sent to her phone.... so it's not convenient...

But now my daughter is grown up and wants to leave, and especially where she is going to live, the Free network is terrible, and she wants to change operators.

So she also wants to keep her current phone number and doesn’t want to notify everyone, etc., to change numbers (which we had chosen more or less easily back then, so it’s easy to remember!).

So how do I first detach her line so that I can have my own line as the main line? I don't understand, looking at Free Mobile, it says at the bottom that the detached line will become the main line (see screenshot below), but that’s already the case... wtf??

I want my other line, which is secondary, to become the main line.... especially since the line I want to detach is already the main line... it makes no sense.

Assuming I manage to do that, I imagine that my daughter's line becomes independent and goes to 19.99 per month. That's fine, but then can I put it in my daughter's name since it’s currently in my name, or can my daughter transfer it to her name with the same number, so with the RIO, without any problems, or does she need to transfer it to her name first?

Because I only saw for the transfer of ownership that it’s for marriage or death, so I find it really chaotic at Free, excuse my language.

So how can my daughter move easily to Orange, for example, with her old number??

I believe Free is exaggerating because ensuring that people can easily transfer a secondary line to a main line or vice versa should not be that complicated, especially given all the things they are capable of doing otherwise, so honestly, it’s a big letdown for Free, which is really overdoing it!

Thank you for helping me please.

Hello

when you change your mobile phone provider, your new provider takes care of everything, they are legally required to
-the number portability (thanks to the RIO number)
-the termination

Hi, I don't know what you're looking for, but if you're a Free subscriber, you have a Free hotline available for a whole bunch of situations.

Yes, thank you, but I'm having a hard time reaching them...

yeah, it's likely if you don't have the username and password to gain access, your only option left is to go to a Free store

I don't understand, I never said that I didn't have the credentials. Why are you saying that? It has nothing to do with my credentials.

hi

do you have your username and password to log in to Free mobile ==> subscriber area?

the link to the page for my login ==> https://mobile.free.fr/account/v2/login

yeah it’s good to mention the ID page but initially it’s on the holine free for access, you need a code not just the identifier, I’m probably out of the game since I’ve never used this service, except that in my time you needed a code in addition to the ID

Of course, that's not the problem.

I want my secondary account to become my main account, and for my daughter to be able to get her phone number to switch to another operator (she is currently on my main account). Also, if Free would just make things simpler...

hi

if you have the username, click on ==> forgot password, and you should receive a code in your email or on your phone depending on the recovery device you initially chose

So no one has any answers for me?

I don’t know why, but I’m no longer receiving emails to tell me when someone has replied, and yet I checked "receive replies by email." It's not in my spam either... Strange...

hello

I just read this on this page ==> click here

Response from today after visiting the FREE store in Lille on March 5, 2024: Impossible to modify the primary line without losing benefits on the secondary lines for a month.

The simplest option: switch to another provider and take advantage of the offers for a year, then return to FREE the following year...

PS: An eventual call to 3244 won't cost you anything, but I don't know if you'll get the answer you're looking for...

I also just saw this page ==> click here

Later!

yes, I will see if I can get them ..

I can't pay for the line with another operator for 1 year to retrieve the number, it's too long

too bad if I have to lose the benefits for 1 month .... not much choice

Hello,

I doubt that you can solve your problem by addressing the subscribers of CCM, who are individuals like you, without any privileged contacts with Free, Orange, or Bouygues.

Everyone has a different opinion on the services of a particular operator based on their good or bad experiences, and I will not comment on Free's services for fear of being contradicted by satisfied customers.

You mentioned that you cannot reach them. The same would apply to any of us regarding any private or public administration, which forum subscribers cannot replace.

It is increasingly evident that contacts can only be made via forms or emails.

The participants on a help site provide the contact details of the services to reach, known solutions, and describe the state of knowledge regarding information technology.

Therefore, the advice regarding Free stores, which have an extensive network across the territory, seems appropriate to me.

However, nothing indicates that they are capable of managing a problem depending on their centralized administration, but they can at least inform you whether your request is valid.

From what I understand, you would like to keep a number for your daughter. As mentioned, it is the chosen operator who handles the procedures with the current operator and who, therefore, can inform you beforehand about the possibility of keeping a number assigned to your line, while you wish to assign it to another line and account.

So far, and for good reason, no one has information on the topic you opened, and I think you need to proceed with the operator of your choice.

Knowing that they all have telephone support and that the CCM agents have no authority to inquire about the allocation of an account that they do not own.

Hello,

Out of curiosity, owning 2 linked Free mobile accounts, I looked into this subject. Conclusion: Free mobile does not allow changing the holder of the main account, except in favor of an heir upon the holder's death. https://assistance.free.fr/articles/903

While this is possible (see specifics or conditions each time) with Bouygues: https://www.assistance.bouyguestelecom.fr/s/article/ceder-ligne-forfait-mobile or SFR https://assistance.sfr.fr/gestion-client/offre-contrat/changer-titulaire-ligne-sfr-fixe-mobile.html or Orange https://espace-client.orange.fr/contrat/cession-de-ligne

Changing the holder during the portability process via RIO seems risky, as the name/first name verification of the holder can cause the transfer to fail and result in losing the number.

You’re left with considering a winding path: separating your 2 numbers, transferring with RIO to another operator in your name, then at this new operator, you transfer the line to your daughter.

For a player who is willing to risk losing their number, it seems there’s an alternate path to test. I said "Free mobile does not allow changing the holder of the main account", but upon closer inspection, on a secondary account, you can change the name, first name, and bank details. So separate the 2 accounts, turn the old main account into a secondary one, modify this secondary account, separate the 2 accounts again, and see if the modified details are retained on this now autonomous account; if so, do a transfer via RIO.

Thanks for the last solution, I need to check with Free if it would be possible .......

It's completely crazy that the other operators allow it except Free!

Moreover, changing the main account should be much easier, or they should make sure that the line is in the name of the Freebox holder while asking for the name of the person who actually uses the line ..... I'm thinking of those who have plenty of Free mobile lines linked to their box as a result!

Thank you, I'll keep you updated as soon as I find a solution.
