Hello,

I wanted to reset my PC to factory settings and to my surprise, once it restarted, my profile was still there. I entered my password and when I tried to log in, I received this error message: "User Profile Service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded."

I followed some tutorials, but nothing works. In safe mode, with or without a connection, I get a nice white screen... I tried to activate the hidden administrator account, but it doesn't show up...

Thank you for your help.

Yes, I had tried. I'm going to install Windows from a USB stick, I'll keep you updated. Thank you.

Thank you for the advice, I managed to log in with my profile. But I have the same problem in safe mode: white/black screen and the mouse works.

I'm afraid you'll need to reinstall Windows in that case.
Have you tried using the system restore in the system recovery options?

OK.

It should reset normally on a clean slate by installing Windows.

And for the question just below?

Hello,

Note that resetting is not the same as factory restoring.

The former is prepared by Windows during its installation and theoretically offers the choice to keep documents or not.

If it fails, factory restore is not available on all PCs; it depends on a recovery partition that the manufacturer may or may not have installed, and in the first case, it is accessible via the recovery console or a function key at startup: it by definition does not keep anything, neither programs nor user data, so back up the latter on a separate partition or external media beforehand.

Of course, if there is no backup and the reset fails, formatting and reinstalling with a key will inevitably solve the issue with the same note.

Hello,

Factory reset is not available on all PCs; it depends on whether a recovery partition has been installed by the manufacturer or not, and in the first case, it can be accessed through the recovery console or a function key at startup: it does not keep anything by definition, neither programs nor user data

On some HP PCs, it is possible not to lose personal documents via the HP Recovery Manager console.

Reset this PC (F11)

User data (pictures, documents, music, videos, desktop shortcuts, etc.): During the Reset this PC process, you will have the choice between the following options: Keep my files or Remove everything.

https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/document/ish_5787618-5911870-16

I once did this on my daughter's HP in the past via the recovery console with F11, and the HP tool asked if I wanted to keep personal data; I opted for yes, and I had no loss, my daughter's personal files were all present.

The hidden administrator account can only be activated from an administrator account itself. If there are none available, we can try to bypass it as follows, with the same goal: to use an administrator account to delete the faulty account.

https://www.malekal.com/retrouver-acces-compte-administrateur-windows/

If the reset without data preservation does not succeed and we cannot do it through an administrator account, as I mentioned: back up the data to an external drive or, if we don't have that item and there is space on the drive, create a second partition to save it, then format and reinstall from a Windows installation USB drive.

Make a backup of the drivers downloaded from the manufacturer's website just in case.

And of course, we will lose all our programs that will need to be reinstalled.
