EBook downloads are always in epub format?

Hello

I received books (via email) and when I download them on my tablet everything is fine; I find them in Play Books and I can read them.

But why on my computer do they turn into EPUB during the download and I can't do anything with them? It's impossible to transfer them to an ebook.

A real mystery for me. A few months ago I didn't have this problem.

Thank you to anyone who can help me.

I wish you a good day.

Hello,

The Epub format is very common in the world of digital books; it is designed to be recognized by e-readers while providing minimal protection for works against piracy. Nothing unusual so far.

"Impossible to transfer them to ebook" what does that mean? ... "ebook" = digital book, it is not a file format.

Best regards.

Hello,

ebook is not a file format. It's a term used to refer to digital books, regardless of their format (e-book = electronic book).

I suppose you are receiving the file in epub format. Your tablet can read it directly, but not your computer. There certainly isn't a conversion of the book into the epub format.

You will need to install software on your computer that can read the book.

You can use FBReader. This software was originally designed for mobile devices.
It is now available for Windows. You can download it from the publisher's website:

You can also find it in the Microsoft Store (which assures you that the software is validated by Microsoft).

The interface is in English, but it's not really a problem because the functions remain simple and easy to understand.

There is also Calibre, which is much more comprehensive when it comes to managing books. Calibre is available in French. Reading is one of its features.
