Hello,
I have a small problem with my HP PSC 1200 series printer. My kitten tore off a small tab (transparent with fine black lines), and I'm not sure where it was located. Can you help me fix it??
Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello!
Oh dear, when you tamper with the mechanism (whether intentionally or not!) of a printer, it's usually a bad sign. Especially with HP, given their very fragile mechanisms (long live plastic gears!).
Can you describe its shape, everything that characterizes it? Or even better: a photo? (You can post it for free on Flickr or Imagehacks)

Based on your description, I would say it's a flat cable, but I'm still a bit surprised. I took a look inside my HP printer, and I didn't see anything like that. Is the printer still working? (turned on, or even... printing?)

Hello,
The printer no longer works; as soon as I turn it on, I hear the cartridges making a strange noise. The tab runs the length of the printer, and at the ends, there is a small hole (probably for attaching it somewhere) about 4cm later, there is an arrow, then a circle, followed by several little black lines (like a barcode)??
Thank you.

Hi, sorry for the late response...
"A strange noise" = an unusual noise I presume? ;)

As for the tab, it seems to be located on either side of the printer, it "rubs" against the print heads and is about 7cm above the belt. To reinstall it, you don’t need to take everything apart, just manage to remove the top cover; that should be doable. You just need to look for "hooks" on the shell or on the ends (near the rail) of the rail.

After that, I don't know how it goes back in, nor what it is for.

Bye
