Hello, I used CCleaner on my PC and since then, I have nothing on my Facebook account, no news feed, no friends, just a few photos posted by me displayed, my profile is no longer up to date... but my Facebook page works perfectly on my phone which I have never logged out of.

I cleared the cache of my Internet Explorer, used Firefox and it's still the same, and I used other browsers like Chrome, Vivaldi, Waterfox... and it's the same as soon as I log in, all Facebook data is empty, and trying with my son's account, his Facebook works correctly!!

Do you have a solution please apart from restoring from a system backup please..

Thank you

Except in extreme cases where one would have bought a 128 GB SSD, we shouldn't have, it’s pointless to fight with system files (the Windows utility cleans up Windows Update, but not necessarily other system files).

There's no point in clearing the browser cache if we set it to clear on exit.

We can always delete temporary files (manually or with a daily script, we don’t need anyone) and the like, it’s a healthy approach but, except in extreme cases, it won't change the face of the world.

The bulk of the space to be freed is taken up by applications or programs we no longer use, files in the downloads folder that are no longer of any use, video content...

"Cleaning" the registry is a dangerous illusion except in specific cases where a stubborn entry prevents reinstalling a software, whether it has 10,000 or 20,000 lines including a number that are no longer useful doesn’t change anything in terms of performance.

Despite successive Windows updates that keep adding more, my system partition, without any third-party utility, never varies by more than 1 or 2 GB (the programs and data are on other partitions).

Hello

CCleaner's latest generation or other Goversoft Privazer and the latest version of Windows do not get along well anymore.

They clean too many things too quickly and too often, preventing Windows from functioning as it does today.

It might be them who are preventing the proper reinstallation of this Facebook account by specifically deleting the locations it wants to use and that they know or find on the PC.

And they are not doing what needs to be done on the PC:

find out why on this PC only one Facebook account does not have or no longer has permissions, in Windows or in only one browser, an antivirus or a firewall or CCleaner, or perhaps it needs to be reinstalled from scratch but there are no longer the codes or information on the PC that allowed it to connect with the previous code, or the shortcuts that worked before are broken and everything needs to be pointed to the right place, including the location of each and every file, it may need a new access code for this Facebook account, to authorize this specific device again by Facebook and for this account, especially for this account.

Is an authorization from a Google or Microsoft account required on this PC to have the right to use Facebook? There may be incorrect information about this Facebook account that is no longer valid, and they restore it every time from their cloud?

Hello @Fifisave1959 StatusMember.

I don't know how many times we have to say not to use that garbage CCleaner, which does nothing on a PC but mess it up. Many people think CCleaner is essential on a PC, some even believe it’s an antivirus. CCleaner is one of those programs that boasts about optimizing PCs, but all these programs are just a scam. CCleaner should only be used in very specific cases and not all the time like a lot of people do, using it blindly without any knowledge of computers.

For your problem:

Press the Windows and R keys simultaneously, a window will appear, copy/paste this rstrui.exe and then click OK. The system restore opens, do a system restore to a date before your problem.

OK thanks, but there's no need to shout at me!!! LOL

And without IT knowledge, that's not my case; I started in 1980... so at 65 years old, I was a pioneer with my Atmos and my Windows 286 PC with those two floppy disks, and since then I haven't stopped!

Restoration? NO thanks... for the advice... reinstalling everything from a backup or the original is out of the question...

I tried to reset my Facebook password using a link I found online, and it's fine after double confirmation via email and SMS, everything is back; it must have been a cache issue or something, anyway, it's all good...

As for CCleaner, thanks for the advice; I will rather use Goversoft Privazer, what do you think please?

Thank you

Hello,

Ah, trading one plague for another? As far as it is necessary to "clean" a PC, this can be perfectly done by manually deleting unnecessary files or programs and occasionally using the built-in cleaning tools in Windows.

OK thanks, but there's no need to yell at me for that!!! LOL

I'm not yelling at you, I'm informing you.

Restoration NO Thanks... for the advice.. completely reinstalling from a backup or the original is out of the question...

You're mixing everything up; a system restore puts the PC back to how it was at a specific date, which is nothing to do with a reinstallation.

As for CCleaner, thanks for the advice, I think I'll use Goversoft Privazer instead.

You should reread my first message; for Goversoft Privazer, stop torturing your PC with these crappy optimization software, wasn't the example of CCleaner enough? I think for the wellbeing of your PC, it's unnecessary to add another layer.

Alright for that, but between deleting temporary files, clearing the cache, installation files for Windows updates... etc, there are too many options, so a utility is useful. So for you, none of them deserve our attention except for the Microsoft standards?

Thank you

I think these tools should only be used in specific cases and with a minimum of knowledge, in order to avoid ending up with the problems you are currently experiencing.

Perfect! Thank you for the helpful advice, I'm going to do the bare minimum, like the caches with a tool and that's it, and the rest by hand!!

Have a great day..

Note that a standard Ccleaner installation takes almost 200 MB.

If the usage is optimal, it would only be "worth it" if it replaced a significant volume of dirt; otherwise, we are just replacing one type of dirt with another.

Noted, but I only use it in portable version from an external SSD... just like most of my software, to avoid overloading my OS and the registry base...

Thank you
