Hello,

Hello, I just acquired a Sony TV 4K Bravia KD-55X75WL (2023) - 55 inches.
Everything is perfect, but I have a problem that I can't solve. In "settings," "display and sound," "screen control," all the functions are unavailable (4:3, 16:9, zoom, etc...?)
To make them accessible, I read that I need to disable "Auto display zone according to the signal." I've tried everything; I can't find that option, it's always unavailable. I've even factory reset the TV; I've changed the source—no change.

Since it is still under warranty (2 years), use Sony's customer service.

Who provides the image? I believe that any external device enforces the image format...

And therefore, change is not possible.


It's very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
Especially when it's not there...

Hello, I'm waiting for a response from Sony. They tried remotely but couldn't succeed. The case has been passed to Sony's technical service.

A real headache; Sony says it comes from the decoder's signal, while Proximus says otherwise.

I'm waiting for confirmation from Sony's technical service to see whether the problem originates from the decoder or the TV.

Do you have one or more external devices that provide the image?

If so, unplug them and check if the image formats (4/3, 16/9, zoom, etc.) are still unavailable in the "screen command".


It's very hard to catch a black cat in a dark room.
Especially when it's not there...

Yes, that's right, the problem does come from the external devices. I just unplugged my decoder and indeed the screen control function is available.

The function is available with the image coming from my PC.

Okay, is it now possible to change the signal coming from the decoder?

PS / What's strange is that with all my previous TVs, the problem didn't exist; the only difference was the TVs were Samsung.

The question is: What do you want to change in the image format?

What are the references (Brand and model) of your decoder?

In fact, the screen command and automatic display functions are set to 4:3, and on multiple channels since it's in 4:3 my image is smaller with black bars on each side; I would have liked to be able to select 16:9.

But if the decoder is not connected, when you set the image to 16/9, doesn't it stay in that format when you plug the decoder back in?

Before contacting you, I had already consulted this article from Proximus, but in the settings of my decoder under "system" "display," I only have the game mode enabled and nothing about 4/3 or 16/9 display. I reset it, but there was no change.

The image format function is unavailable when the decoder is connected, I know that.

My suggestion was to see if, with the decoder unplugged, the television is indeed set to 16:9. If not, switch to 16:9 and reconnect the decoder to see if it's the one imposing the 4:3 format.

Have you tried?

As for the V7 decoder, I can't find any more information on using this decoder..

You say: "in the settings of my decoder "system" "display" " that there is no choice for the image format, but it should be found under Settings > System > Image .

Contact Proximus customer service if this choice really does not exist on your decoder..

I think we have covered everything, I'll contact the Proximus technical service.

On this Sony model,

as soon as you switch to external inputs (HDMI..), this function is no longer available... Same on Netflix!

So, no possibility to zoom, regardless of the type of signal?

To check, I connected an external drive via USB and the 16/9, 4/3, and zoom functions are indeed enabled and accessible.

It's surprising for a TV at this price, and what's the point of buying a 165 cm if you can't have full screen!!!

So that's the explanation.

Check in "Screen Settings" (if accessible) that you have

  • Auto Wide = ON
  • Auto Display Area = ON

Yes, the problem is that you need to disable automatic display and Auto wide and set it manually to off, but I don't have access.

Hello again

I just tried again this time with no access to the wide mode with the decoder turned off, pfff what a headache.

A little while ago, Sony support intervened remotely but was not able to solve it either. My case has been transferred to the technical service.

According to them, it could be due to the decoder's signal but Proximus says it has nothing to do with it.....pffff

So I'm waiting for confirmation from Sony: decoder problem? or TV?

I'm trying something else; I connected my PC via HDMI to my TV and watched a movie.

And surprise, I have access to the wide mode and its functions.

So I'm certain it's not the television, so is it the decoder?

This seems to confirm that it is indeed the external device that imposes the image format.

And thus, it is indeed on the decoder that the format must be changed if the correct one is not set.

Yes, we are coming back to your initial response.

The problem with the V7 is that there is no access to the image settings function 16/9 4/3

(incorrect information from Proximus)

My docking station connects via USB with an external hard drive, and when I watch a movie, the 4/3, 16/9, and zoom functions are available on the TV, and the same for the PC connected via HDMI to the TV, the functions are also available.

It is indeed the decoder that is causing the problem, so I don't see a solution?
