Audio issues with TV and headphones

Hello,

I bought an OLED TV 55 C1.

Today I would like to add a headset to listen to the TV while muting the regular sound (silence for my wife who can't stand the TV).

First, I don't know how to make the connection.

Then, I would like the regular sound to return when I put the headset down (even better if there’s a button on the headset to turn it off and switch back to the regular TV sound).

Curiously, many people ask to keep the regular sound while using the headset, but for me, it's the opposite, and I can't find the answer to my question.

Can you help me with the connection, and let me know what kind of headset I should buy?

Thank you very much, best regards,

(P.S. I also have an older soundbar, but apparently everything has changed, connections are no longer possible with this TV, it's a shame, it's going to the dump). It was to modify the sound of voices.

    As for your question:
"But do you know if you can listen alone with the headphones without bothering those around, and then turn the TV sound back on for everyone? I hope you don't have to plug and unplug wires behind the TV all the time."*

If you use the optical audio output, to stop the sound from coming from the television, you just need to turn off the TV speakers (button on the remote).

Well, this is getting too complicated for us 'excuse me, but we're dealing with elderly people: 75 and 90 years old! and no one around us to help, except having to resort to a Darty technician who will cost us "an arm and a leg" as the ad says on TV.

I printed all your correspondence + the links and gave it all to my husband, but obviously, there are things he doesn't know how to do or can't find....

Our orange decoder looks a lot like the one you sent, except that ours has an orange stripe on the back instead of white like yours.

The article code is 228713 3561292287137, UHD-L TV decoder serial number: 6211411107889

    That's all I have.

If other information is missing, I will try to find it, but right now, we are completely lost, we are far from being pros.

Congratulations anyway on your knowledge! it's masterful at this point!

About age... I myself am almost 82 years old...

For now, try connecting the soundbar to the television with a 3.5mm jack cable between the headphone output and the analog minijack input of the soundbar.

If that works, we will then see about testing the optical output of the television. Because if we can't get the optical output to work, there's no point in trying to connect a headset with optical input.

    Hello,

Normally, plugging in a headset into the headphone jack automatically disables the television's speakers.

This disconnection is initiated by a microswitch located in the headphone jack of the television.
This means that no headset has a special button to enable disconnection.

With your television, there may be a way to enable or disable the television's speakers when the headset is connected.

    Excerpt from online help

Check in the TV's "Sound" settings if the "Wired headset + TV speaker" function is available.

If not, there are two remaining options:

    • The Bluetooth headset, but it’s uncertain whether the Bluetooth function for audio output is available.
    • The headset with optical input to connect to the television's optical port

The optical input headset solution is certainly the best and safest.

Thank you for all this information, but I don't have "Bluetooth", I'm on Wi-Fi. I'm not very knowledgeable about this. I will look into optical jack headphones, if my television is compatible!

In the manual, I don't have details on these connections. I will read the entire manual again.

Excuse my naive questions, but I am an elderly person, and there is no one around to help me.....

The television has a digital optical audio output, no worries there.

Example of over-ear headphones with optical input

      https://www.amazon.fr/Sennheiser-RS175-U-Casque-sans-num%C3%A9rique/dp/B07XTW93RV

As for the soundbar, please provide me with the references (brand and model) and I will try to tell you how to connect it.

Additional question: who provides the image to this television? A decoder, a box, or simply the TNT antenna? If it's a box or a decoder, please also provide me with the references.

Thank you. The soundbar is a ZVOX AccuVoice TV Speaker AV 200 Europe.

We followed their plan and instructions to the letter. The signal indicating it is properly connected appears, we can adjust the volume, but no sound comes from the bar. We tried using the analog audio output and the optical output.

Regarding the headphones, okay, it’s obviously Sennheiser, the best. I agree with you. But do you know if we can listen solo through the headphones without bothering those around, and then switch back to the TV sound for everyone? I hope we don't have to plug and unplug wires behind the TV all the time.

We have the Orange Box 5, we are connected via fiber, and the box is connected to an Orange decoder for TV. These devices are of the latest generation.

Is this what you wanted to know? I am at your disposal if you need further details... Now, I will go check out the headphones you recommend. It’s convenient, we are Amazon Prime customers. Thank you in advance!

First impression: indeed, it looks pretty good, and I was already thinking it was necessary to opt for this price range. I will read this calmly.

From the audio output perspective, the television has only two.

    • The 3.5mm jack headphone output
    • The digital optical output

The Orange decoder you have is this one? https://cdn.woopic.com/c10f167280f2414abb346a5347e1ecd9/prod/binaries/files/844748_21687585_1_guide_installation_decodeur_uhd92_janvier_2020.pdf

If yes, this one indeed has a digital audio output but S/PDIF (Coaxial) not optical.

My idea was to find out if we could connect the soundbar to the Orange decoder and the headphone to the television. I will look for a headphone that has a coaxial digital input.

You can try connecting the soundbar to the headphone output of the television and to the analog minijack input of the AV200 soundbar.

For the optical output, there is a setting to be made in the "Sound" menu of the television to enable the output

and choose the digital output format

Perfect, now I understand the sound well, I should have figured it out, it's silly!

Thank you for all the time you spent helping us, we are very sensitive. I think we will go for the Steinhauser headset you mentioned. I'll need to check if they can deliver it with 2 headsets, as I do watch a movie from time to time, and it would be nice to enjoy the sound of these headsets (ultimately better than the soundbar).

For now, I haven't found an additional headset for a single base on this model (curious)...

Perfect! Thank you very much, anyway, there's no rush!

It's even more extraordinary to know all this at your age, I can't believe it and I feel even more silly. Really, congratulations, and it's sincere!!!

Hello, a lot of messages on this subject, there is always a headset to put on your ears and it will do nothing for your wife

I am fitted with "signia" hearing aids, my audiologist also suggested

a wireless box to listen to the TV; with this system we can adjust the sound of the TV and its soundbar so that my wife can adjust the sound as she wishes with the TV remote or the decoder, even turn it off, and I can also use my headphones. Check with an audiologist, even if you are not deaf, there will be an economical solution for you https://www.signia.net/fr-fr/chargeurs-et-accessoires/streamline-tv/

Note that there is a button to listen to rugby or football matches to distinguish the commentary and reduce the whistles, great!!!

Yes, thank you Baladur 13. I just visited the site you linked me to, but you will see, like I do, that the additional headset is unavailable, just like everywhere else. One site says that this additional headset will be available again in several months, Amazon says it doesn't even know if this additional headset will be restocked.... that doesn't encourage me, I've written to Stennhauser to find out the reason, we'll see what the response is.

I do not want to buy a product that will no longer be manufactured!

As for in-ear headphones, I hate them! First of all, the sound is nowhere near as good, they're heavy, they hurt my ears very quickly..... I won't buy this kind of product again! (they lent it to us for testing at Audika, I returned it after 3 days!).

    Have a good day!

      OK...

At Sennheiser, there is no second RS 175 U headset; in fact, you need to buy two identical headsets and pair the second headset to the base of the first... according to them, it's easy. You just need to place the second headset on the base of the first to pair them.

Here at Odilo, there is a Geemarc CL7400-2 that also offers 2 headsets, and a video shows how to pair them on one of the two bases
      https://www.audilo.com/3304-casque-tv-duo-geemarc-cl7400.html
It is also available on Amazon (a bit cheaper), but you need to order two.

Very interesting. Stennheiser has FINALLY replied that the RS 175 or RS 195 models have been obsolete since 2019 !!!!!!

I'm going to check out your suggestions on ODILO or AMAZON, hoping that the sound will be as excellent as Stennheiser.....

Thank you very much in the meantime, I'll keep you updated.

    Hello,

Specify which brand of TV (the OLD 55, there are many)?
