Excel 2019 - Windows 11 - unable to save a file
Thebazaar -
Hello,
I just changed my laptop. It's running on Windows 11. I installed my Office 2019 suite for which I have an original activation key.
All of my Office suite works except for Excel. In fact, I can sometimes open an Excel document. The problem arises when I try to save it. I go to save as, and at that moment, I'm unable to select a place to save it. Clicking on "Desktop" for example doesn't work. The save dialog doesn't come up. Sometimes, the document just closes without warning.
When this happens, I'm first unable to reopen a new Excel page. It closes automatically unless I open it in safe mode. At that point, it works, the page opens, but I still have the same saving issue.
I have gone through the solutions offered on Google by Microsoft, and nothing works.
Do you have any idea what might be wrong?
Thank you very much

Hello,
Click on File, Options, Add-ins, Excel Add-ins, Go. Disable all add-ins. Close and reopen Excel while reactivating one add-in. Close and reopen Excel. Repeat the process until the problem reappears. The last reactivated add-in will be the one causing the issue. If the problem persists, do the same with the COM add-ins.

Thank you for your response.
However, I have no active add-ons either in the add-ons or in the COM add-ons.

I have installed and reinstalled several times and I still have the same problem. As Leon_Blum said, it remains strange that Excel is the only one affected by this inability to save and these unexpected closures.

Hello everyone,
In the address bar of the File Manager, enter "%appdata%" (without the quotes). Navigate to the folder:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
If the folder is not empty, move the files to another folder and test.
