Good evening. For some time now - perhaps since the introduction of end-to-end encryption - I can no longer see the history of messages sent or received on my PC. It seems that they disappear after being sent (or after being read for received messages). I have updated my Google Chrome browser, but the issue persists. Does anyone know the reason? What are the differences with the “normal” mode? The ephemeral mode is an additional option you can take to enhance the security of your conversations. When you send a message in a conversation with the ephemeral mode activated, it is received in a dedicated conversation window. Once the message is viewed, it will automatically disappear as soon as you leave the window and return to the discussion. How to disable ephemeral mode Disabling ephemeral mode is very simple. At the top of the interface, when the mode is activated, there is a button “Disable ephemeral mode.” Tap on it to return to your normal conversation. A few clarifications: the ephemeral mode feature is not available in group conversations. No one knows if it will be in the future. Furthermore, when a screenshot is taken, a written notification will alert you. And to be able to use this mode, both participants must obviously have a sufficiently recent version of Messenger.
