Duplicate WhatsApp Photo

Hello, since yesterday the photos I receive or send to a person via WhatsApp are arriving in double on our two iPhones.

I'm searching and going around in circles.

    I'm still on iOS 15, but my partner is on iOS 17.4 and it's the same issue. We updated WhatsApp three days ago at the same time, and it's the same problem, so the bug is definitely with WhatsApp.

    Contacted WhatsApp, who only directs you to the FAQ.

    Hello DD78,

    I experienced the same thing. I realized it as soon as I saw the new interface without knowing it could be a bug. I went to Apple, where I buy my iPhones, and they told me there was nothing they could do about WhatsApp. They gave me a solution, which is to uncheck the automatic recording, meaning to uncheck film and do manual recording. If you find a solution, let me know. Thank you.

    I have the same problem.
    I haven't installed iOS 17.4 yet. I'm still on iOS 17.3.1, but I updated WhatsApp two days ago.

    I think it's more of a WhatsApp bug than an iOS problem.

    Hello everyone, the same thing happened to my mom this weekend on her iPhone 15 Pro. I searched all Sunday and finally had an idea. I backed up all her chats through the settings in WhatsApp, in chat backup. I deleted the app from her phone, reinstalled the app from the App Store, and installed WhatsApp again.

    I tried sending her photos again while keeping the automatic backup on WhatsApp, and the photos are no longer duplicated. So try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, but don’t forget to back up your chats beforehand to avoid losing anything. It worked for my mom. Good luck to everyone!

    Hello Move32, your feedback comforts me a little even if I still don't have a solution. I couldn't see what manipulation I would have done for this thing, especially since my partner is in the same situation at the same time. What is curious is that when our iPhones communicate with each other, the anomaly is present on both sides; if someone else sends me a conversation, I have the anomaly, and if I send to others, they don't have the anomaly.

    Since yesterday, I've been spending my time searching. I went to Apple, who couldn't see anything. The solution they gave me is to disable the camera roll in the WhatsApp settings and to record manually.

    I will give feedback if I find the solution.

      Hello, for your information, I have the same problem with duplicate photos since I performed a WhatsApp update (iPhone iOS) yesterday morning. I therefore conclude that it is probably a bug in the application.

    Hello Lili, please re-read the answers provided; the correction is above, follow it to the letter and everything will be back in order. If I remember correctly, open WhatsApp / chat / settings etc... I can't recall exactly, but if you follow the exact procedure described, everything will be sorted out.
