Old cartoon with the little chickpea

Hello!

I'm looking for an old cartoon (from the 40s or 50s, judging by how old it looked) that I saw when I was little (probably on a cassette). The main character was called (Chickpea) I think, a little boy who at first gets bullied by 3 guys (I only remember two names, Gaspard and Escobar).

There was a giant who ate people in the town named (Machcru, something like that), and Chickpea had to go confront him. There was also a good fairy who taught Chickpea a moral lesson, and at the end, there was a three-headed dragon. In the end, Chickpea managed to defeat Machcru by making him fall into the hole where the dragon was, and then the dragon attacked him. Afterwards, the 3 bullies became friends with Chickpea.

Does anyone have any idea what the name of this cartoon is?

    I found it, it's Garbancito de la Mancha, a cartoon from 1945. Hope this helps you.

      Thanks! I found it a month ago, but I forgot that I had posted this message ^^ now people will know what it is about, I'm still looking for the French version though (ps: there wasn't a three-headed dragon but several creatures that looked like a mix between a dragon and a diplodocus)

      I believe it, yes. In fact, I also searched for it for years and eventually realized that the title "garbancito de la mancha" would lead nowhere; I actually had to look for the cover where the VHS was, which, if your memory serves you right, was titled "The New Adventures of Tom Thumb," and whose illustration had nothing to do with Garbancito. After 10 minutes of searching on Le bon coin, I finally found it (I don't think there's another copy for sale, at least not currently). It was digitized yesterday, and if it's indeed the right film, I will find a way to send it to you if you want, or I will make it freely available on YT.

    Thank you for this research work. I’ve been trying for 10 years, from time to time, to find this cartoon.

    And tonight, ChatGPT led me to the forum and found it. Yet it wasn’t the first time I had tried this way. Thank you Andras for the digitization and uploading ????????????????????????

    Especially since I discovered its incredible story through my research. It's the first feature-length animated film in color from Spain, perhaps even from Europe. It was lost and only 8 reels have been found. So it's a real treasure to have made it available online. ????
