Hello,

I assembled my setup for about 1700 euros.

All my fans are working, my graphics card, the water cooling, the power supply too, etc. In short, everything works but the DRAM light is lit orange and stays lit. I cleaned my RAM sticks, they are indeed well seated in my motherboard. I followed the recommended combinations of slots, I tried all the slots, I cleared the CMOS, BIOS, nothing helps. I therefore returned my motherboard and got another one, *all the components are compatible but nothing changes. As a result, my screen does not recognize my PC even with the HDMI cable plugged into the graphics card. In short, I need help please.

My setup is completely compatible. I’m using DDR5, my processor is the same, which is the Ryzen 5 7600X, my motherboard is the ROG Strix B650 Gaming WiFi, my power supply is 850W, and my two DDR5 5600MHz sticks are 32GB.

Thank you for your possible response.

Well, the RAM is not placed in the correct slots.

What is the exact reference and brand of the motherboard, because "b650 gaming wifi" on Google leads to a MSI, whereas yours displays a "republic of gamers" which belongs to Asus........

Hello

Could you post some (very) good quality photos of the inside of your PC, as well as the brand and model of the RAM? That would be great....

"All my fans are working, my graphics card, the watercooling, the power supply too, etc."

Which means you have a dedicated GPU. What brand and model is your GPU? Where do you connect your screen? To the motherboard or the GPU?

Thank you for your responses, my RAM sticks are Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB, so it's 2x16.

My graphics card is an MSI RTX 4070 Ventus 2X and I am correctly connecting an HDMI cable from a graphics card port to my screen (an Asus TUF Gaming).

We need photos.

A build made up of new parts that doesn't start doesn’t exist. It's always a mounting error, a forgotten cable, or an incompatibility, always. And to get a first idea, you need to observe the assembly.

Whoa....

I just spotted another anomaly: The connector in the top left of the motherboard, dedicated to the processor, usually called ATX12V or PWR_CPU on others, you have plugged the 12-pin connector reserved for the graphics card into it, so I don’t know what you connected to the 4070 then..........

In any case, that for the CPU is not good at all..........check your PSU manual, and the power connection diagram for your motherboard.

ASUS ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI – AMD Ryzen AM5 ATX gaming motherboard (12+2 power phases, DDR5, 3 x M.2, PCIe 4.0, 2.5G LAN, WiFi 6E, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port, Aura Sync RGB) is the reference for my motherboard

Regarding the RAM sticks, it's because I changed the slots to see if some were faulty. And concerning the cables, I'll check quickly for the issue; I'll send you the one I used for my graphics card

It's mostly that the one you used on the motherboard is not the right one at all...

ok, I take note and look at the manual, thank you

I looked and I believe it's the right cable, a 2x4 pin.

  • Are you sure this cable is not the right one, with all due respect? Could the DRAM light be related to the CPU cable? Since there are 12 pins on my motherboard, I had separated one to properly connect its 12 pins; shouldn't I have done that?

Good evening,

Make sure to follow the info from Flo88.

On the cables, it's labeled and there is a keying feature.

The RAM:

The CPU is labeled.

Okay, don't reconnect the connector for the CPU (the 8-pin marked "cpu" on the plug) where it's indicated in the screenshot from steph810.

In photo 8, the connector looked suspiciously like the 12VHPWR needed for the graphics card because I counted 12 pins but it was actually 8 + 4.

Reinsert the RAMs correctly.

And give it a try.

Every time you touch the components, are you discharging static electricity?

for the graphics card, it should normally be marked PCI-E on the pins like for the CPU

Hey, I'm disconnecting but it still doesn't work. I'm also changing the RAM sticks, I've tried them all, I only put one in, nothing changes, the light is still on. It could be that the RAMs are defective! The fact that both would be is a bit unlikely, right?

Unplug the 230v power supply cable, press the "on" power button on the device several times. Plug the cable back in and try again.

It's still not working. Do you think it could be due to the RAM sticks?

Can you please provide the exact reference for the RAM or a link to the site? There are some that are compatible with AMD and others that are only for Intel.

Let's see if this one is for AMD or if there are others for Intel.

Normally, you should have a SKU reference by model; they are optimized for AMD or not...

Please share it.

Example:

SKU: CMK32GX5M2B5600Z36

CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 5600MHz CL40 AMD Expo Computer Memory Compatible with iCUE - Grey (CMK32GX5M2B5600Z40)

there you go

OK, well the reference does not see Corsair.

Look here for compatibility

Rog

______

If you look at the compatibility, nothing even with the filters, but I find yours compatible with Intel for example, so check at Rog the link above and choose one that is 100% compatible.

For your information.

Dual profile RAM for Intel XMP and AMD EXPO

OK but refer to the specifications of the motherboard; from 6000MHz it works, below that we will see....

It's better to go for 100% compatibility rather than adaptable... as long as it's not too developed and still in the works.

It is true that DDR5 still has some issues; you need to stick to the lists until the BIOS is updated.

Also check that the RAM sticks are properly inserted; the locking system from Asus, which is unique to them, is not great. You need to firmly push down on the side without the lever while applying pressure on the lever side.

The graphics card, same thing; don't hesitate to push down very hard to make sure it's fully seated in the slot.

Okay, thank you very much, I will take a look at that.

As for the RAM positioning, believe me, I have tried everything and my sticks are even more than properly seated. In any case, I will check the compatibilities.
