Good evening,
I have just connected a new Cgv satellite decoder to the TV.
No reception, black screen on the TV. EFI message on the decoder.
After checking, there is no 13 volts at the output of the decoder.
Thank you for your help!

Hi menhir,
When asking a question, it's best to be as precise as possible; many questions go unanswered because they are too vague.
"I just plugged in a Cgv satellite decoder": is this the one?
► Do you have the dish pointed at a satellite?
► If so, which one?
"After checking, no 13 volts at the decoder output": and what does that have to do with it?
"EFI message on the decoder": please specify the exact message, thanks.
Best regards!
Hello Txiki, thank you for your message.
The decoder is a Premio Sat HD-W7. The satellite dish is pointed towards Astra.
A Thomson THS808 decoder is already working in the living room with a Scart connection. We want to move it to a bedroom with a TV, also using a Scart connection.
In the living room, we want to connect the CGV decoder. Yesterday, we connected the CGV to the TV using a Nedis HDMI converter because the CGV decoder does not have a Scart connection at the back.
Unfortunately, the decoder keeps displaying the message FTI.
The screen shows "no signal". And then it turns black.
Only the power button works on the remote control.
There you go, I tried to be as clear as possible;)
Let's start over;
The question was: "I just connected a new Cgv satellite decoder to the TV:
Now you say: "because the CGV decoder has no scart connection at the back". That's normal, the scart connection has disappeared a long time ago!
► What is the brand/model of your TV?
This is important because if it has a scart connection, it is old and that changes everything!
If that's what you call "converter", forget it! It's just a simple "adapter" that converts nothing. It will never work.
==> It is absurd to want to use a digital signal, of high quality, to output to a TV screen via Scart (Scart) which is an analog signal and of low quality. <==
Best regards!
So, the decoder that works very well on the TV via the SCART is the Thomson, which has both a SCART output and an HDMI output. It is supposed to work with both and was purchased a month ago.
No functionality issues despite using SCART. We know very well that there is a loss of image definition. We are fully aware of this. That said, it's for an 84-year-old lady who wants to watch her flat-screen TV and who no longer has the remote control for her TV. It's impossible to switch to HDMI. We are doing what we can to help her.
The converter was purchased because the seller guaranteed its effectiveness.
What interests me and the reason for this exchange is to understand why the CGV decoder does not work like the Thomson.
"is therefore the Thomson": what, the TV?
"of a SCART output and an HDMI output": on the TV?
The HDMI is always input on a TV (unless stated otherwise).
► The CGV: connectors?
► TV: connectors?
► Is it this one?
Let's start over. What are the devices, the brand, the model of each, the connectors they have, etc.
Otherwise, we won't get anywhere.
Best regards!
Hello MPMP10,
We tried the color buttons at the bottom but only the power button on the remote works. We have already returned a Thomson decoder that didn't work. Two is too many! ;)
