Slender Man does not exist and therefore incites nothing.

He is a character from low-grade horror fiction whose role is to scare people in a movie, on websites, or in a number of video games.

A number of people killing others or themselves "in his name" have indeed been documented, with psychiatric causes often rooted in ancestral beliefs, alcoholism, and socio-economic ruin as in the case of a Sioux reservation in Dakota.

We cannot blame any spirit for the actions of those who are weak-minded.

Such myths have only been brought up to date 2.0.

They have always existed, for example in the bogeymen of the Middle Ages, myths from Germanic or Celtic origins, or the necessity to sacrifice to a particular spirit which, if not appeased, would reveal itself to be malevolent, as seen in the sacrifices of pre-Columbian civilizations or in the Inquisition which could be extended to unexplained phenomena that are sometimes explainable (probably particularly ergotism as in Salem or in Pont Saint-Esprit, although in the latter case no one killed anyone).
