Alt Gr key unusable on on-screen keyboard
Psodeu -
Hello,
I'm encountering a problem: when I want to use the "alt gr" key to enter the euro character (€) for example, instead of inputting the character, the narrator says "euro."
Actually, from that point on, I can't do anything because the narrator is announcing every key I press, even the "escape" key, and so I get stuck and have to go to my physical keyboard to resolve the issue.
I'm on a fresh installation of Windows 10 Pro. I'm sure I was able to enter this character with the on-screen keyboard because I already had an issue before reinstalling. I therefore tried it as soon as the reinstallation was completed!
Indeed, before reinstalling Windows, when I used the "alt gr" key on the on-screen keyboard, the result was somewhat similar: the keyboard became unusable but I didn't hear the narrator...
Since then? Maybe an update that changed something, I don't know. I can't find anything substantial online about this. It's as if I'm the only one experiencing this issue!
The narrator is turned off, and it makes no difference... I even tried removing all rights from the narrator for my account, no change...
I don't understand anything.
Thank you for reading, and if you have any ideas, thank you in advance for sharing! ;)

Hello
Is Psodeu Belgian?
Go check the language settings in Windows; if you have French (France), remove it, and try Belgian French.
Hello!
Yes, it's Belgian...
What I tried on the language side: I only had FR BE. I tried adding FR FR (I had come across a similar answer but the problem is different) and it didn't change anything. I removed FR FR. Still the same...
Oops, we must have crossed the same answer then,
but if you indeed had the Belgian keyboard, I don't have the solution but there must still be a connection with the language and the keyboard, I have no more ideas, I don't really know how Windows manages it.
Should we take drivers from the manufacturer's website?
They must be more familiar with these differences after all.
Regarding the drivers, my PC isn't brand new and Asus doesn't offer anything anymore! (that's a bit much, after all, it's about 10 years old)
Thanks anyway bpost.
Hello choubaka!
The trick gives me the character on the physical keyboard but visually, since I have to use "Shift" to get the numbers, it's less obvious. ^^
I can use the touch keyboard (the one that appears when you activate "show touch keyboard button" in the taskbar. And yes, there are two of them... When you can make things complicated!) but I find it much less convenient...
But that's what I've been doing since I switched to Windows 10.
Yes, I feel like I've stumbled upon a rather obscure issue, fortunately not serious.
Since it occurs under 2 different installations (an upgrade from W8.1 to W10; and a complete re-installation of W10), my hardware must have something to do with it...
Thanks anyway, choubaka!
