Transfer photos to laptop

Hello, I can't transfer the photos from my Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G to my PC. The PC shows that the phone is connected (via USB port), it "processes" and then a message appears asking to enable multimedia data transfer authorization on my device and to make sure it actually contains photos. However, the phone doesn't display anything at all, no message asking if I want to export photos or anything like my previous Redmi Note 6 that transferred its photos perfectly to the same PC. I searched the phone to try to find the location to authorize multimedia data transfer, but I can't find anything. Note my low level in new technologies... Thank you in advance if you know how to do it.

Hello,
Connect your mobile phone to your PC, then unlock your mobile phone and place your finger on the top edge of the screen and scroll down; a section with several options will be offered to you, but look, there should be "Notifications silenced" with "Interface" written below it; choose the first one, click on it, then it will say "Charging this device via USB" below, click on it, then it will say "Charge only" "Transfer files / Android Auto" "Transfer photos"; choose the option you want, normally your phone should be connected to your PC, and you should be able to transfer photos, music; look in the file explorer, the name of your mobile phone should be there.

Hello,
logically all Android smartphones should allow data transfer to a PC.
The first thing to check is that the settings are properly configured to transfer data and not just for charging or another option. This setting is usually accessible in the notification area.
The second thing is that it might come from the USB cable; if it's a cheap generic one, it may not allow data transfer but only charging; if it's the cable provided with the smartphone, it should normally be good enough for data transfer.

Hello and thank you for your response.
The USB cable is the original one that came with the phone.
Sorry but I don't know where the notification area you mentioned is. I looked everywhere (I think) in the settings but couldn't find anywhere to enable data transfer...
Do you think the phone might be defective?
I sent a comment to Xiaomi from the Gallery, let's see if they can help me.
I wish you happy holidays.
