Text turned into text field issue

Hello,

I am currently finishing my thesis and the file is quite heavy. When I inserted a figure, my Word crashed and made unwanted changes. The entire file has become grayed out and can no longer be modified. When double-clicking on the text, a window opens stating "text field option; maximum length 255". Do you have any idea what happened and how to undo this action?

Hello

It's hard to respond without seeing the document.

It looks like you've inserted a field. What happens if you press Alt+F9?

A thesis is a large document, and it's recommended to do it in multiple files.
