Hello,

I just bought a SCART to HDMI adapter 720 1080 P to watch the VHS tapes from my old VCR on a TV without a SCART input. However, for some tapes the message "no signal" appears while for others it works even though the films are of the same nature. Thank you in advance for any potential help.

Hello,

There can be several possible reasons.

1° It is very possible that your VHS tapes have lost magnetic field level over time, due to the initial quality of the media and the storage environment...

2° We do not know the nature/origin of this video... so it may very well have a specific or different encoding, even just the image dimensions.

3° Rental tapes were often "Protected" to prevent copying.

And there could be something else... We would need to look at this signal on an oscilloscope to see what it is about if the signal is still present.

Just because we cannot see the video... doesn't mean the signal does not exist.

The television may also be to blame with signals that have not existed for several years...
