HP PageWide Pro 477dw won't turn on
SolvedJeffCoco -
Hello everyone,
My HP PageWide Pro 477dw printer is not working anymore (nothing is displayed on its screen) and when it is plugged in, its power button stays green and turns orange as long as I press it to try to turn it off, with no effect by the way, and it turns green again when I release it...
I left it unplugged for several days to drain any capacitors, but that didn't change anything...
Do you have any idea about the cause of this failure?
Thank you in advance and have a great day everyone!

Hello,
I was able to unlock it by following the procedure below:
Download the firmware from HP's website:
https://support.hp.com/en-us/drivers/selfservice/hp-pagewide-pro-477dw-multifunction-printer-series/7439472
(It is dated May 9, 2023)
Do not run the .exe (you can try, but since my printer was locked, there was no response)
Using WinRAR or another tool, extract this .exe file and retrieve the file "maverickdw_dist_pp1_001.2313A_nonassert_appsigned_lbi_rootfs_secure_signed.ful2"
Put this file on a USB flash drive formatted in FAT32
Unplug the printer and insert the USB drive.
Plug it back in while holding down the on/off button, until a black screen appears with only the white icons on the left
Press "home", "back", "home", "home", "menu"
Press OK. This starts the firmware update.
After about two minutes it restarts, saying that the latest firmware was already installed. No matter, it unlocked it (and the network settings remained in place)
There you go, in case it helps someone, no guarantees of course, it doesn't compare to an official HP technician.

Hi again, I finally managed to get support from HP.
In my case, it’s an issue following a software update. (The technician told me it’s widespread, with many calls about this reason over the past few days…)
He uninstalled the device, downloaded a new driver, and copied it onto a USB stick. He made me force a restart of the printer after unplugging all the cables (power, network, fax…) (hold the power button while plugging the power supply into the printer) and launched the new driver. The printer completed the update, and since then, everything’s working fine.
Here’s the number I called for France: 01 70 48 53 19
Don’t get discouraged as I waited an hour this morning without reaching anyone. And this afternoon, I only spoke to someone after waiting 50 minutes!
Make sure to have a USB stick that doesn’t have anything important on it, as it will be formatted.
I hope you’ll be able to resolve your issue too.
Have a great day.
Best regards

Hello,
Is it new? Is it still under warranty?

Hello,
I'm experiencing the same issue since this morning. I tried unsuccessfully to contact HP support (over an hour of waiting this morning, "all operators are busy"... only for them to abruptly cut off the call, and now I've already waited 45 minutes for this new attempt...)
Have a good day.
