CM MSI white LED VGA

Solved

Hello,

I set up my new configuration today with the following components:

MSI Pro B660M-A motherboard

Intel Core i5 12400F

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16Gb

MSI MAG 650BN power supply

I start the computer, all the fans are running, the case fans, the CPU fan, but the screen remains black. The display indicates that there is no HDMI cable, even though it is properly connected between the motherboard and the screen (the screen is the one I had before and it worked very well). The VGA LED on the motherboard remains white.

Where could my problem be coming from? Given the mostly office and streaming use, I didn’t plan to add a GPU, so I chose this motherboard to be able to connect the HDMI cable to it. Is it worth trying with a DisplayPort cable?

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

your processor is a F variant, meaning it has no iGPU (graphics card)... So you need a graphics card.

That's normal. You've chosen a CPU, the Core i5 12400F, without an IGP (integrated graphics processor), so the video outputs from the motherboard are not connected to a processor, and they don't work. You will therefore need a dedicated graphics card. If you wanted to avoid using a GPU, you should have chosen, from Intel, a CPU whose model number does not end with the letter F. For example, i5-1400.

Okay, thanks for your answers, I understand better now. I will return the processor to Amazon and replace it with another one, or get a graphics card instead...
