Hello everyone,
I just cloned a HDD to a SSD using Macrium Reflect. The operation took quite a while, but in the end, I received a message indicating that everything went well, so I was happy.
I replaced the HDD with the SSD and started the machine, not so good after all!
I restarted to F10 and here is the display.

Hello bazfile,
Thank you for your interest in the topic.
I suspect that the SSD is not taken into account at boot, I went into the BIOS and the boot order is indeed set to the concerned SSD, which is why I remain skeptical!
For now, only the BIOS mode has not been changed.
From my PC, the SSD is the one I am going to install on my wife's, in the Disk Management I can clearly see the similarity between the original HDD and the cloned SSD, no surprises on that side.
I will check the mode and let you know, thank you.
Best regards
I just checked and I can't find more UEFI than Legacy (could the problem come from there?)
Here’s what I have at the BIOS level.
Or
Nothing more...
Boot order
The laptop is a few years old, is it capable of handling an SSD? This could be a question!
Best regards
Your SSD is apparently not bootable, restart the cloning process with Easeus Todo Backup.
Thank you for your feedback, we will redo it then... I will leave a follow-up when the time comes... thank you.
Best regards
Hello again, SATA Mode, not in IDE, it's for old systems (XP)
It needs to be in AHCI
Hello
Easeus in its latest versions no longer allows for cloning a system disk and I believe that Macrium, not being updated since February and no longer being free, leaves something to be desired if it's a fully updated W11....
My advice is to create a system image with Easeus from the old disk, install the new one, set up Windows, and restore the image; it's longer but more functional.

Waiting for other responses; I attract trolls....
Hello flo88,
I confirm that Easeus Todo Backup installs correctly, no problem, but when you get to the screen page to start the procedure, nothing happens except a window popping up offering two paid versions.
It also suggested starting the software in administrator mode, which I did, but it didn’t help.
There is an image of the old disk with Easeus, yes, but if it doesn’t work for cloning, I don’t see why it would work for a system image!
Thank you for your help.
Regards
If it didn't work, I wouldn't explain this trick.
Thank you flo88, I will try the experiment, it's not what I initially wanted to do, but I will be tempted by your offer.
I probably won't respond right away but there will definitely be a follow-up.....thank you...
Best regards

I sometimes use the Image > Restore method, I haven't done direct cloning yet.
Then if necessary, you will resize it afterwards with Macrorit Partition Expert Free Portable.

Hello fabul,
Thank you for your intervention.
I will check your links and will follow up...

Just a piece of information and I wonder if the issues are coming from there!
While checking the Disk Management, I notice that the file system on the SSD is in RAW, I haven't done anything particular for this to be the case!!!
Could this have an impact on the fact that the SSD is not doing anything?
Thank you if you can tell me how to act.
Best regards
Check its status with CrystalDiskInfo
DiskImage should offer to delete everything before proceeding.
If there's already nothing (RAW), it's not a problem for it.
I don't know how to interpret Crystal's display, is it clear to you?
He looks good.
That's also what I was thinking.
However, I didn't quite understand how the software you proposed works; is there any help available by any chance?
Yes, there is a user manual:
https://www.oo-software.com/en/docs/usersguide/oodi17.pdf
Thank you, I will check.
I'll come back...later...
The software doesn’t seem to recognize the SSD, I admit I'm not following here!!
Is it possible to format it, for example, to see if things improve eventually?
It might be poorly connected (bad contact), you can reconnect it.
You can take a large USB stick and create the bootable key with
(Recovery Medium)
Then you can do everything from the bootable key.
If there is enough space on the key for the disk image, you can create it there.
Then restore it to the SSD
(No need to go through direct cloning).
Ok, I'll see how to handle your proposal. I may not respond immediately, but there will be a follow-up....
Have a good evening in the meantime...
Regards
Hello everyone,
I'm following up as mentioned, some software like Aomei among others gave me a slight hope of reaching my goals, disappointment.
I am currently using Clonezilla, the process is still ongoing, for now it is progressing very slowly but it's moving forward.
I will be back for the next steps... thank you all for the help and advice you are giving me.
Best regards
Hello.
I just came across this post. I've done 3 cloning operations since February 2023 using DiskGenius free and had no problems at all. It has the advantage of being fast, able to clone from a lower capacity to a higher capacity and also from a higher capacity to a lower capacity, provided that the space to be cloned is less than the capacity of the hard drive (or SSD) to be cloned, of course.
DiskGenius Download Center | Free Download DiskGenius
For the cloning, you need to click on "Tools."
This is just a suggestion (I have no shares in DiskGenius).
See you later...
Good evening Jojolaguitare,
Thank you for your interest in the topic.
I won’t need to try the experience with the software you proposed, thanks anyway.
To everyone,
Indeed, I took some time with Clonezilla but it worked perfectly, it's not fast, the procedure is long on the concerned PC because it isn't "powerful" either, in the end, removing the HDD and installing the SSD, booting up and it's wonderful, everything is great!
Thank you all for your interest in the topic, there are quite a few manipulations with Clonezilla but the result is there, I’ll keep it in mind for a future attempt if necessary, nothing else is for sure.
Wishing you all the best and see you later...
Best regards.
Hi Jojo
I have never tried that one, I'm going to give it a test. Thank you.
Hello . . . You're welcome ;-)
Hello
I just tested the system cloning with Disgenius, on Windows 10 from one SSD to another. It worked perfectly. It is very comprehensive, too bad it's only in English.
Hello Flo
Yes, too bad. That's the only flaw I've found so far. (for now) And since there are quite a few tools, it can be somewhat frustrating to look for them. But with a bit of patience, we'll eventually get to know this DiskGenius.
See you . . .
