Windows 11: how to associate a COM port with a USB port

Hello, My Windows 11 PC has 4 USB ports.
In the device manager, these 4 USB ports appear under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" line. There is no "Ports (COM & LPT)" line.
To configure a navigation software (OPENCPN), I need to recognize the COM port associated with the USB port to which my GPS antenna is connected.
My question is, how do I associate a COM port with a USB port, and see it in the device manager?
Thank you.

Hello,
In the absence of serial ports on personal computers, COM ports are virtual.
They are installed via drivers, INF files, and registry entries when the hardware in question has the capability (this is the case, for example, during the installation of printers or, more generally, of an added device in the device manager as soon as it is recognized).
Therefore, it is the role of the software or drivers related to the hardware in question to create the necessary virtual interface, and one must contact the manufacturer’s support to see if a solution exists: unless for a professional programmer, it is not feasible to create the entries oneself.
A number of software programs (Virtual Serial Port Driver, paid) boast about creating virtual COM ports, which must then be configured, not necessarily an easy task.
