Micro SD "XIAOMI"

Hello,

given the prices, I've started testing Alibaba.

First purchase with 128 GB microSDs. It works, but 42 days for delivery, with follow-ups and surveys.

Second purchase with two 'Xiaomi' of 512 GB and 1 TB. 16 days for delivery (Ali says less than 10 days at the pickup point).

But that's not the issue. These two Xiaomi are totally erratic. You can write to them, but when you take them back, you can't write or create a directory anymore. Some videos, which can be copied, are actually not playable by software like VLC.

I had fun splitting the 1 TB into 4 partitions. I was able to copy to the first one (with the aforementioned issues), but no matter how many times I format (with gparted) the other partitions, the fact that they are formatted disappears immediately, and they are not mounted when the USB stick is inserted.

Xiaomi seemed like a serious company to me. Are there other similar experiences?

Best regards

Hello

It must be said that these really are brand products.
On this cheap sales site, you can find everything and a lot of nonsense. USB keys and other SSDs, RAM, etc. which are just copies of copies are not lacking. 128GB that are at best 64GB, etc.

Basically, it doesn't work, you return it, unless the return costs more than the goods, and that sometimes is part of the "risks".

There are plenty of complaints about this topic.

Best regards

Yes, I follow you, and I partly share your position.

What 'tempted' me is the fact that a friend declared himself satisfied with Alibaba, and that the prices are attractive.

I wanted to give it a try.

The first purchase (µSD of 128 Go) was satisfactory despite the delay and the steps to obtain it. The stake was low.

Now, with my 500 Go and 1 To, it's a disaster. But again, the stake remains modest.

That said, I'm still trying to see how these SD cards behave (and understand?). Returning them? It's not worth it given the mess at Alibaba.

Thanks again for the feedback.

A micro SD card, drive, USB key, and all types of memory-based storage work the same way. There's not much to know, but you can consult Google if you want the technical details of their operation/construction.

Now, in this case, it's just probably poor quality, with the consequences.

Hi

To reinforce madmyke's statements, here is the process often used to deceive the buyer with virtual volume, card, SSD or other storage:

If you are going to bet on this kind of risky purchase, Aliexpress is safer than Alibaba. Less scams.

As for delivery times, it's direct imports from China, India or Asia in general, often by ship, which explains the delays.
