PS2 in black and white: how to make the right connection

Solved

Hello, I bought a PS2 and I have a Nasco TV. Behind my TV, the color of the plugs are blue, green, and red, and on my PS2, the cable is red, yellow, and white. When I make the connection and switch to AV, it doesn't work. But when I switch to component, the image appears but in black and white and a bit blurry, with no sound either. I would like your help with some solutions.

PS: For the connection, I plug red into red, yellow into green, and white into blue.

Hello audreydesiree,

The RCA connectors (analog signals) are yellow (video), white (audio left channel), and red (audio right channel); they are an analog audio and video output, not digital.
On your TV, you have digital connectors.

There are converters, but only for converting Digital --> Analog for quality.
Converters have a direction, it’s either one way or the other.
Regards!

Hello @txiki StatutContributeur, thanks for your reply. Please, how do we send images in the conversation? I'm trying but it's not going through. I will show you the image of the connectors on my TV screen to help me better understand.

Hello,

Your PS2 has AV outputs, you mention RGB inputs on your television... it cannot work.

What is the model of this NASCO television?

Does it have HDMI inputs? If so, we can find an AV to HDMI converter.

It's very hard to catch a black cat in a dark room.
Especially when it's not there...

Hello @baladur13 StatutModérateur, thank you very much for your response. Yes, yes, there are HDMI inputs. I don't know if we can send images here, but I will send you a photo of the connectors on my TV.

If there are HDMI inputs, then an AV to HDMI converter will do the trick.

Example: https://www.amazon.fr/XMSJSIY-Convertisseur-adaptateur-convertisseur-compatible/dp/B0BWXP8WKG

Hello again @baladur13 StatutModérateur, I went on Amazon but unfortunately the converter is out of stock.

On Amazon.fr there's stock... I can't tell in Côte d'Ivoire.

Try searching for AV to HDMI converter or RCA to HDMI converter or even AV to HDMI converter or AV2HDMI or RCA to HDMI.

There are lots of models... most are powered via a USB cable (check if this is suitable).

The photo of the TV doesn't give me much more, are there no other inputs at the back and also a label showing the model?

Hello everyone,
baladur13: it looks like a USB right above the power cable, doesn't it? But the view is a bit too unclear.
► audreydesiree: can you take a photo of the back if there are connectors?
Regards!

Yes, I saw the USB that could be used to power a converter.

Good evening to you @txiki StatutContributeur and @baladur13 StatutModérateur, I just saw behind, right behind the TV that there are other inputs. I hadn't paid attention. The sockets match exactly the ones for the PS2 (red, yellow, white). A big thank you again to both of you ✌????????????.

The image is good! Not as realistic as today's games but it's nice with the good sound. Thanks again.

I could buy the HDMI connector you showed me later for cleaner images.

Hello everyone,
"...the PS2 connectors (red, yellow, white)": So it's indeed RCA (analog audio and video).
Best regards!
