Secure boot - unable to change the status

Hello,

I need to change my secure boot in order to install a new program on my PC, but it won't change status despite my attempts in the BIOS.

I'm on a Lenovo PC, so I navigated through the BIOS to Security>Secure Boot> Enable/Disable.

Despite changing the status on my end, secure boot remains in the [Disabled] status, even though the Enable option is correctly selected in the manual choice I made.

Can anyone tell me why, please? And especially how to change this?

Thank you in advance for your responses,

Maxime

    Hello.

A possibly silly question, but when you exit the BIOS, do you make sure to save the changes?

Yes, I am indeed recording the changes.

And I notice even more that nothing has changed when I return to the UEFI settings:

Secure boot: [Enable]/Disable (so the choice I made is indeed applied)

Secure boot status: Disable (the secure boot status does not change and does not correspond to the modification).

The battery might be close to its end.

Otherwise, there might be another option that prevents secure boot from being activated. We should look into the CSM settings.

        Hello.

On most PCs, a flat battery on the motherboard keeps the BIOS or UEFI settings when the PC is powered off.

On a desktop, it's quite easy to change; you just need to open the cover.

On a laptop, it's trickier. There may be 5 to 10 screws to carefully remove in order to take off the back of the laptop and access the battery.

I performed a factory reset of the PC, I updated all the Lenovo drivers (with Lenovo Vantage), and this for all the hardware of the PC.

I cannot access the CSM through the UEFI, I have no option with that name no matter where I look...

And in the meantime, the status of the secure boot is still Disabled despite the action to Enable it.

      Hello.

Question: is your disk GPT, not MBR?

        Hello.

Sorry, I don't see anything that could help you.

I asked the question on chat.openai.com (an artificial intelligence site), and the answer corresponds to what you have already been told:

It is possible that changing the Secure Boot status requires additional steps or settings in the BIOS of your Lenovo PC. Here are some steps you can try:

        1. Check if you saved the changes you made in the BIOS before restarting your PC. If you didn't save the changes, they will not be applied.

        2. Make sure your Lenovo PC is using the latest version of the BIOS. You can find BIOS updates on the Lenovo website.

        3. If your Lenovo PC has a BIOS restore option to factory settings, try resetting the BIOS to default settings, then try enabling Secure Boot again.

        4. It is possible that the operating system you are using does not support Secure Boot or that the necessary drivers are not installed. Make sure you are using a supported version of Windows or Linux, depending on what you are using, and that your hardware drivers are up to date.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you can contact Lenovo technical support for assistance.

Hello, I also have this problem. No matter how much I set secure boot to enable, the boot status remains disabled. Have you found a solution?

    I also have a Legion 5 Pro.

      Re

      I found a solution

After enabling secure boots instead of pressing F10 right away, select "reset Factory Key" just below, then press F10 and there you go, for me it activated the secure boots
